Oakleighs Southern City Classic - new schedule, new format, night racing, $2000 up for grabs
Oakleigh, home of the 2010 Vic Open, is running the annual Southern Classic on the 10th of October and there are some exciting changes being trialled.
A split schedule will be run - Juniors during the day and Seniors during late afternoon/evening. Juniors will run from approximately 10:45AM and be finished by 3PM. Seniors will start at 3PM and run through to conclusion, probably around 10:30PM.
It is anticipated this will have many advantages, as Oakleigh president Adam Bourke explains. “Everybody gets good track time within a more condensed period. Less hanging around between races", said Adam. "Additionally, for those families of Juniors that have to travel, they will have plenty of time to make it home on the Saturday afternoon, saving a nights accommodation cost." Adam went on to observe that "Seniors don't get as many night racing opportunities as Juniors, so this is a chance to dedicate the night schedule to the Senior group."
Clubman Light is the feature class, and there is $2000 at stake! This class will have a special "Southern City Classic Champion" final at the conclusion of the event, where the best 20 karters will fight it out for the dollar prize. It's winner takes all, so watch out for the action!
Check out the Supp Regs for the classes to be run on the day and other information -

Seniors - Don't miss the opportunity to get some night racing, it truly is a different experience.
Juniors – Come and enjoy the more condensed racing format.
And Everyone - Don't forget that the Vic Open less than 4 months from the date of this event, so it is the perfect opportunity to get some race practice at the host track.
See you there!
