Just looking for some info on engine's and frames to start in tag-r next year. Just looking for opinions not to purchase at the moment. I am 6ft3 and 110kg so any one who has any info or similar size, post your opinion. I am sure there are plenty of other newcomers like myself interested in this topic.

arrow easily the best value and best resale good kart and and easy to get parts.
Call Ian saville at karting world
I am in Adelaide, and have been testing the water with a few kart dealers. Had a different opinion from all of them with engines. Have all been very helpful but still unsure which way to go. Fireball, Leopard or Rotax.

Given your height you would be looking for something that can have the pedals moved forward on
Arrow 30/32 or perhaps BMax with forward mounted pedal nose
Engine wise visit some tracks and see what classes are running you would be better runnng in reasonable fields
the new X1-30 (30-32) dosnt actually have an extended front end yet (great work DPE!) but supposedly they are working on something.
With your height you will deff need an extendo, for that reason i rekon you should ahve a look at the OTK stuff (tonykart, kosmic, redpseed ect) as the extended kit for them is huge and very neat. They are a fairly expensive go kart however.
The X1 has an extended front that is not the nicest one on the market, but its cheap and works well, and you get the benefit of DPEs spare parts availability and price.
Since your not buying right away, until you do keep asking about the X1-30 and its 'in the works' extended front end, as this chassis IMO is by far the easiest to work with, and deff one of the fastest karts for Tag-R. (and cheapest to boot!)
Hmmm, i just realised i wrote all that assuming you where talking new, if your looking second hand you cant go past an AX9 (arrow) or GP5 (monaco) 30-32, one of very few frames with a removable pedal bar meaning the extended version looks basically no different to the normal version. Was an awsome feature of this frame and i still to this day find it amazing they decided to leave it out of the new model!
As for engines, the leopard/fireball are the easiest to use, with the butterfly carby and no powervalve to clean. The rotax battery also has to be manually charged, where the leopard charges itself.
The leopard is currently the fastest engine but im sure parity wil be evened out again next time they review the restrictor sizes.
There is also the new X30, a bloody awsome engine which hasnt really been tried in Tag-R much yet so who knows if itll be fast or slow! This engine would be my fav but its a little but more expensive then the leopard and fireball, and the same price as the rotax.
Rotaxs are however slightly cheaper and easier to find second hand...
Hope iv made some sense and helped a little!
Hey bud,
I like you am a Gigantor ( im 6"4 and 104kg) and just bought my kart about 6 weeks ago.
I ended up getting a 2007 Monaco GP5 30/32 with a leopard for 4500. I had plenty of karts to choose from with the same budget as yourself but went for the Monaco because of the extended front end, and trust me youll need it. As Josh above said it looks know different and is awesome to have for you and I.
Just for a comparison when you go looking I got my chassis, engine, alfano pro+, super tuna lights, trolley and a big box full of spares, including bead breaker and tyre tongs for 4500, so i recon you should have some good change from 6k.
Good luck. Its Gob smacking when you first get out. You wont stop shaking afterwards. :)
Jason, there is a club meet at the Southern track at Bolivar on the 27th, best bet is to have a look. Arrows are like bum holes (don't take offence everyone that drives one. I do too), everyone has one, so you could get to see both versions that everyone is talking about in the flesh.
Yeah thats the plan, probably come and have a look at the bigger races towards end of year as well just to see who has what. Thanks everyone for there responses.

Hi Jason, and welcome Keep asking questions and you will get answers the (bum hole karts) (nice one kev lol) as it is so politely put are so common and work well how ever as Josh has pointed out dont be afraid to look at the other markets. In the second hand range you will pick a fantastic bargain, and as far as engine goes it is leopard all the way! feel free to pop out tomorrow to Bolivar as Team Valvoline has just assemble the new X30 ready for restricted and will be running it in, come and introduce yourself and ask as many questions as you like.
Good to see another man giant join karting!
Cheers David.
