according to the supp regs we do..
Entry Fee for all Rotax classes and Open Performance is $695 per class which includes two sets of the class dry slick tyres per entry (see section 23).
also if it's wet you can use 2 sets of wets... pretty expesnsive
thats my point, why dont we only use 1 set of tyres and lets see who can manage them the best while all along we can cut the cost of entry. It has become an expensive race meeting considering you have to be there mid week. I dont know our entry is in.
it's too expensive for me. i was planning on going but i'm pretty sure i won't be now...a bit disappointing really
yeah we too voted for the standard format but i guess we have to play by the rules set before us, i just hope we get a field of DD2's
Dylan Lindgren said:Yeah, my brother and I aren't going to be racing @ Raleigh because of the price of entry (it would be around $1400 for both of us). I agree that we should just be given 1 set of tyres and have to manage them over the weekend. In fact, why even change the format - I liked the format of pro tour 1 & 2. It was great to have some long races for a change. It's a shame because I was really looking forward to having my first race at Raleigh. I think IKD will be very disappointed at the turnout.D.
hmmmmm yer i think buying 2 sets of tyres is expensive......but i like the way they are thinking.... try to mix it up a little.... i guess they are intending the pro tour, as the name suggest to be for pro's..... and people that attend the meetings would most probably put a new set of tyres on for practice anyway..... but yes i know the sport cannot survive without entry level karters..... so i understand a balance between cost and professionalism must be found.....personally i really like the format.... not so much the cost....
Can I ask if the tyres for the event are being supplied directly from IKD?
If this is the case, you would think that the tyres would be supplied a little cheaper than retail. I understand they have Television costs to pay, but at the end of the day people will get sick of being sent broke. I'd much rather not worry about being on FoxSports and get my tyres and entry a little cheaper, but maybe that's just me.
I think we will need 2 sets for the meeting though, as then we would have issues with people tyre saving and whatnot, especially in the smaller fields.
What is every one complaining about ??? You don't have to use the 2nd set of tyres ??? $270 + $270 = $540.00 .
$695.00 -- $540.00 = $155.00 for 4 days of driving on the best track in Australia by a country mile ! ! ! ! $155.00 that is better than $190.00 , this makes it a cheap pro tour round ???? Have any of you blokes ever done laps around Raleigh ???? Most blokes that are there to win practice on brand new rubber on the practice day before racing anyway ???? ( so that is still 2 sets of tyres for the weekend ) , I agree one set of race tyres would be better , but at the end of the day just use one set & take one set home with you to race another day at another track ???? Most people will think that towards the end of the racing that if they only use one set of tyres that they won't be competive against the guys that use two sets , this is only slightly right cause i just competed in the 2009 Australian Rotax Endurance Tttles in June at Raleigh & the guys that won it ( Scott Auld & Gerry Brookes ) set the fastest lap of the race on lap 243 of a 275 lap race . ( check out mylaps if you don't believe me ) . Pro tour at Raleigh is 116 laps or say 130 laps with roll up laps even 150 laps with carby sessions ???? Still not as much as 243 laps ???? In my opinion one set of tyres will do the job fine , so take the other new set home & use them somewhere else & come to Raleigh for a CHEAP pro tour weekend of racing on the BEST track in Australia , even the best track in the world . This is a fact that some drivers that have raced overseas have said about Raleigh International Raceway ! ! ! !
I agree with you Luke
Raleigh is really good on tyres so i will be using an old set of tyres for the heats and new set for the finals and that way i will have 1 new set for my next race and 1 really good set of prctice tyres how good value is that and wasnt the entry fee $195 at newcastle. however you look at it its great vaule

The idea with 2 sets of tyres is to change it up a bit and to make it more interesting, when will be the best time to put the second set on?? , its meant to be the PRO-TOUR not a club day, there has to be a few race meetings that are better/different than the normal clubday and country hack meeting... people have to remember that motorsport isnt cheap and either is the pro-tour $695 is good vaule!
haha david - can i possibly get you to repost what you said without the use of the b word? :)
well i guess i must be the stingy old grinch, but i guess when im the guy paying the bills i have an opinion. I do think it is a good idea to have a week off work and go to one of the best circuits oz has to offer, i just gotta pay for the ***** !!!!
:) Cheers

Reply to Luke Wall: To be honest Luke, new tyres are always an advantage in this situation. The reason why those guys might have set their fastest time on that lap is for an enduro, you dont set the kart up like qualifying or say a prefinal so thats the reason not to set it early eg. tyre pressure so they went very conservative. when i did the enduro in 08 i had my fastest lap on my 3rd lap on those tyres and last lap was 3 tenths diff but still at an event of this type 3 tenths is everything
From my experience from Europe, every kart used both their sets of tyres.
Reply to Brenton Mountjoy:
The event is already different from a clubday because of the profile of the event and the drivers the event gets is ovbiously like a national championship and already for most of the competitiors its very hard work but then throw in the variable of when to use the tyres is just something it doesnt need. Its good their trying to make it a professional event but the reason why europe can get away with allocating 2 sets is because there already over suscribed and in aus we wont have that.
