this coukd be a sore point.......
Yes I have done all of the above and more .............
all of the above +
Flaggie multiple times and working bee's
All of the above + (Same as Paul)
Working bee & grid. Flags, but we have to do that once!
Guess What!!! the only discussion you will get on the is thread is from the guys & gals that HAVE volunteered!.
Greg, if you started this discussion so that people might have a look at themself and think about the things that they can do for their club, well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
No matter what club you are amember of, there is usually only 5-10%(if you are lucky) that do all of the work around the club.
Without those Blokes & Ladies, you wouldnt be racing, so have athink about that.
We all want more track time, etc and so do the workers in your club, so get off your Arse and help them.
Signed Jack Daniels.

done some mowing at working bees, not old enough to do anything else, lol.
Some of the above + some
We are fortunate in that we have some very dedicated members (to the sport of karting)
We have had a number of ladies that have taken on canteen manager over the years and rallied a support group around them - they do a brilliant job every race day
Our resident "jack of all trades" as been around probably since the 70's holding exec committee positions and officiating on race days as well as club handyman and getting our trophies together
our scales marshal has been around since the 70's
Our Grid Marshal has been around for many years and at larger meetings has been known to leave his kart in the ute to ensure we get an efficient meeting
Various members help with Starter/Finisher/Flaggies - which with the installation of lights has streamlined those tasks
Some of our members are now 3rd generation with all 3 generations still actively participating at the club
Too many to try to list all
Yes good topic - you get out of life what you are prepared to put in!
Dont forget - any one of you can attend the AGM and be nominated for your club committee
yes i have done all those.....
Its amazing how many clubs have long serving volunteers, same with other sports there is always seems to be one or two who seem to be part of the furniture. But never enough of them sadly.
Same seems to exist is a lot of sports, I look at the other sports my family play and myself and see the same thing, ppl who have been their for decades doing the same thing. Sometimes I think thats can be a bad thing in a way in that we depend on these ppl for so long when they leave their job is hard to fill. I have seen some sports clubs nearly close down because key ppl leave. I think clubs should look to ensure that we have ppl able to cover each role just in case.
I have also seen the "other" side of long term volunteers where they protect their job like a bulldog protecting a bone, do THEIR job or even OFFER to do THEIR job is seen to be a threat. They do the job for so long they take OWNERSHIP of the club and look out anyone who wants change!!! not talking about karting here, [ my wife hockey association president!!] but I have seen it in karting and in other volunteer organisations.
Anyone notice it was the year of the volunteer a couple of years ago???
