Hey guys just wondering if there are any good ideas for enduro running. I'm running the King of the Creek enduro at Eastern Creek in September which should be pretty awesome but haven't done any enduro driving before. Any tips or good ideas for enduro's (ie communication between crew and driver, things that can often bust and should be prepared for, and even strategy and driving)?????

Ive done 6 hr race's 12hr, 24hr. all of them, main thing is not to push to hard, had a let lap time and just sit on that, doesnt matter if someone goes flying past you, just set your pace. get some boards together saying when to pit and things. and stay off the ripple strips you dont want to bend anything 5 laps into it. its a long race to try and win it on the first lap..
Mitch make sure you do a complete spanner check of every nut and bolt. Check engine/mount & mount/chassis bolts, cable tie your rear bar to the chassis and tape over, additional cable tie around your nosecone, battery, sparkplug, bracket that holds the black powervalve cover to engine, make sure your exhaust is wire tied at 3 points, you will need a "o" ring chain, plenty of chain lube, new brake pads (beded in) and schimed out almost hitting brake disc to start (u will have an extremely long pedal after 4 hours), check your clutch is in good order and tight on engine, new engine & axle sprockets, new plug, fuel caps on tight & tank cable tied to chassis at bracket/knob, and u will also need plenty of oil & fuel as that race starts at 7pm i think in september in syd's west = very cold = big fat jet in that big fat carby...
Be a little paraniod and check everything twice and leave nothing to chance. If you put in the time on race prep, you'll have a good race.. Good luck
MAKE SURE U HAVE ENOUGH FUEL
AND LUBE THAT CHAIN
Thanks for the advice guys. Some of the things I had already thought about but some I had not....particularly cable tieing everything and the new bedded in pads. Are any of u guys running? Its looking like it will be pretty good and the circuit will be pretty awsome!! If you think of anything else vital please add it cause I may not have thought of it. One thing with communication boards or signals.....it'll be dark so is there any special technique for that?
you can buy a pit board from revolution racegear, and make your own numbers. or buy fluro numbers.
we had a pit board for a car race in the rain, we made the numbers on overhead projector sheets(clear), and coloured in the outline in black so that the only the numbers were left in clear. and we mounted a large green neon light to the back, so when you look at it, the numbers/data are projected as a fluoro green light. worked pretty well, but you gotta get the clear numbers right, and the light mounting.
are you allowed to have a onboard radio?
Yes you can ..........

Do you need a special helmet?? I mean i've never used or looked into anything like that before.

Is anyone looking for a driver - aerodynamically either myself or abbey kellie are the best in the country...
Hey Mitchel,
fitness wise make sure you do a good mixture of cardio training and weights, particularly in the forearms and neck. You would be surprised how many people's necks gave up (including mine) at the first Wallie enduro.
no you dont need a special helmet. your arai should be fine. you can get two way radio's, and mount 1 to the kart with a ear piece/ headphones going under your race suit and into the helmet.
what my dad and i organised for his race was 2 mobile phones. we get free calls to each other, so we bought a cheap phone and attached the hands free to it, and ran the hands free up the suit and into the helmet. and we cable tied the microphone to the inside front. and i called him before the race, and hung up once he pitted at the end.
best to check if you can get a two way radio with ear pieces, or a cheap intercom system.

I know of one person who would possibly be interested - Aaron Borg - he doesn't have a Rotax but he's a good steerer and he's mentioned the event a couple of times but as yet I don't think he has a drive. Maybe send him a note if you're interested.
