just getting into karting guys, will have an Arrow AX9 28/30, 40mm axle, brand new 100S on it.
what sort of things should I be checking before I go out on the track, and is there any special things to do to my kart to be quick at southern?
if this has been posted already of there is a checklist/setup list somewhere I'd appreciate the link, thanks guys!

Well done you will love it. What class are you going to play in?

become a member and get an AKA licence, do your OLT and get a key

Start with an Arrow recomended base set up for your size, class and kart; do lots of laps until your times are consistent to a couple of 1/10's of a second and then make changes to your kart, keep notes as to what you did and the results.
Keep doing laps and when your are in talk to people and observe people doing the same class as you and ask for help if you need it.
Have fun, a bad day karting is better than any day at work.

In South Australia there has been a class created called Sportsman SA which was designed to be an affordable entry level class. Because of this the AKASA have decided to use Dunlop SL1's as the tyre for the class which are supposed to last a lot longer than the MG Reds, which is probably why Russel has SL1's on his clubman kart as it may have been used in Sportsman SA
Hi Russel
Welcome to the Sportsman SA club!
Yes, Dunlops are what you're after for Sportsman SA. I'm sure Phil at Kustom Karts will be able to give you a few points on a good starting setup.
Once you're ready to start tinkering with setup adjustments yourself, have a look on the Arrow website as suggested. Don't fall in to the trap of copying a clubman light setup though, as they run on much stickier tyres than dunlops (forklift tyres as Kevin calls them).
Have a look for a good senior national heavy setup on the Arrow website and try and get close to that. We're running similar weight and the same tyres to that class in SSA, so that's a good starting point.
Sounds like you've picked up the ideal kart for SSA. Most of the guys up the front are running an ax9 28/30 or Monaco equivalent, and they're a friendly helpful bunch, so don't be afraid to ask for advice out at the track. See you out there.
Robbie
jeez Matt don't confuse me like that I'm new I can't take it!
thanks guys, now I've just gotta get some gear this weekend and I'll hopefully be driving next week!

sorry mate im from qld where we think running a clubbie on dunlops is a sickning thought i mean come on SA dunlops yyyyyyyyyuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkk
Matt, being from SA and whole heartedly agree with your comment i still agree that this class has saved racing in SA to a certain degree. The class they get have very good numbers and you can always tell when they are racing as the spectators get very vocal and passionate as it is quite good racing to watch.
Good luck Russel,
