Hey everybody im just searching around for a little bit of information towards 40mm axles in JNH
All the fast guys in Junior Heavy seem to be swinging 40's and at Eastern Creek last meeting one of my friends through a 40 in and was quicker than Darsey so yeah you can't really argue with that lol.
I'm just wondering what peoples experiences with 40mmr ear ends in JNH and SNL are
- What axle compound? (i'm pretty sure super soft is the way to go)
- What rear width is a safe starting place?
- Do we have to move the seat?
- Do we have to setup the front end any different?
- Any general tips lol.
We've had a good chat with my engine builder and we've had the run down, but still ANY information would be greatly appreciated i'm just on a bit of a hunt right now lol, also i'm running a Monaco GP6 (Monaco's equivalent of the XE-28).
Thank a million to everyone if you can get back to me on this one.

Quicker over the race, or quicker lap on the timesheet?
There is a big difference =D
Quicker laptimes and Brayden did end up about 2 spots infront of him lol.

When i raced JNH. I was in the AX9, however, i still ran the 40mm axel alll the time! If you can pull it off, it will definately be an advantage. It worked quite well and got me in the top 5 at the states at newcastle and qld states. We ran the soft, with 78mm hubs, at about 1300mm overall rear track (it will depend though). However keep in mind, the 40mm will have the tendencey to feel more vague in the rear, and will generall come on later. So i found i had to hang in there in the first couple of laps, and then it would jus keep getting better. But aparts from that, i doubt you will have to change much.
Regards
Nick
Hmmm the 40 feels more vague, i'll keep that in mind at the start lol.
We just picked up a complete 40 rear end with a spare brake disc for $180 so i think that's a pretty good buy haha, but it came with a Hard it's got "H" stamped into the key slots in both ends so Dad just got a soft.
It came with 100mm hubs and we've been told that the shorter hubs are the way to go so we borrowed a set of 62's off a friend lets hope they work, I'm thinkin it was out of a clubman because of the Hard axle and the 100mm hubs do you think so aswell?
Also we've been told that 1300 mark is a fairly safe place to start and work from there which is a bit wider than what I run my 30 but ohwell lets just go from there.
Thanks heaps mate.

personally hated 40mm rear ends in the js i used an ax9 though you only have to look at the 2 current national champs both racing arrow blake in the xe and darcy in the ax9 both 30mm, yr before that gary in jnh and waters in snl 30mm, yr before that that lad in the top kart he had a 30mm but i think blake had a 40mm. last three yrs 1 person used a 40 and he now uses 30mm nuff said:) but preference and what not comes into it what ever you are comfortable with.
