Seems like there are a lot of ideas around on the amount of oil to run in a Rotax.
The manual says 50:1 , yet ive seen 30:1 right up to the 50:1.
What do the majority of people run? or is there a 'Superkart ratio' ie for long circuit work?
Thanks

Re: Fuel oil Ratio? for Rotax
What ratio were you running in your twin. 4% of elf or castrol 747 is more than enough for a twin or am I reading your post incorrectly ;) :)?
Yes 40 -50% for a max is fine depending on what oil you run.
Guys, there were a number of uncoated Rotax pistons realeased in engines and as spare parts quite a few years ago.
We ran them in our twin with 0.05mm piston to bore clearance until very late in 2009 (2 years in total) without a seizure and still would if not for an undesirable pin height to suit our current combination.
I suggest that a detunned "for capacity" 125cc max engine didn't seize due to the coating being missing. There will be another explanation I gaurantee.
Re: Fuel oil Ratio? for Rotax
We are now using 33 to 1 in the rotax as im aiming to get the 20 to 25 hours out of the motor. (Im at 10hrs and apart from a cracked exhaust seems to be going strong)
Plan is (when i save up again after the pr...ks broke into my house) to get a Nat together and leave the rotax as the club bicycle, and then hopefully get more people into Superkarts.
