Re: QUIZ:Pick the Tracks
From all the clues and guesses by Gavin Newman, Nat22 you only need 2 more drivers.
Plus a few have the wong number in order of photos.
Don't I make it hard ;D
All 5 of the last names you mentioned are in the race, just choose the order of photos.
I'll add more clues for the last 2 drivers.
Your efforts deserve better than some lollypops,
If coming to qld. raceway for the 2nd round of the Nationals,
I'll buy you a drink or two...

#20 From Canada, this driver drove the smaller class new Lotus 69/Cosworth Ford 1598cc.
He raced in this Tasman series 1971 to 1973.
The youngest driver in the series at age 24 years.

He also drove in many USA race series in different classes.

That would have to be Dave McConnell then.
Re: QUIZ:Pick the Tracks
Only one driver to go, and I thought I gave enough clues it would be easy.

Re: QUIZ:Pick the Tracks
just a matter of knowing where to look. But even I located it, even though
I am new technowlogy impaired, can't even spell it.
The young computer nerds should easily find it, even Cookie (No offence intended)
Re: QUIZ:Pick the Tracks
Gardner, Geoghegan, Goodwin, Galloway or Green.

There is a "Green" in the race, Col Green Australian, drove a Repco Brabham Climax 2495cc
but no photo so I didn't include him in the quiz.
Don't know if Col had a brother ? definitely not in this race.
There was also Bryan Faloon NZ, driving Rorstan Porsche 771 flat 8. No photo, not in quiz.
Don't know if Richie Galloway had a brother, not in this race.
How many more clues do you want ???
Re: QUIZ:Pick the Tracks
My ol' mate Warwick Brown also drove for Pat Bourke racing, not in this race though.
I was just chatting with Warwick yesterday, there's a story or more here, but this is part of it.
Warwick and I were mates since 1966, I drove a road Mini Cooper "S", Warwick a MGB
The cops are still looking for us, as we tore up the streets around Hornsby, Sydney suburb
to Palm Beach where Warwick's dad had a beach house, known to pick up girls on the way.
We were BAD or mad, those days, not a good example to you young guys.
If you have heard of Galston Gorge, near Horsby, it's a tight twisty road with heaps of hairpins
down to the gorge, then up the other side... Turn around and race back through the gorge again.
Warwick's first drive in a race car was at a practice day at Oran Park, he literally drove a wheel off it.
He reminded me yesterday of driving my Nota Fiat sports clubman and seeing this wheel coming past him,
then thought it must be my back wheel as he headed for the grass, all was OK though.
Warwick then bought a F3 he prefered to race open wheelers.
He had a few bad accidents in F5000, the worst at Surfers Paradise, where what was left of his F5000
fitted into a 44 gallon drum. Warwick's legs were stuffed etc... etc... lucky to be alive.
Warwick retired from racing in 1979.
He attends F5000 revivals, but won't drive one again.
In his second life, as he calls it, he took up flying, now pilots corporate jets.
I mentioned Len Goodwin's name at the top for good reason... ;D
Re: QUIZ:Pick the Tracks
Kenny Goodwin.
Re: QUIZ:Pick the Tracks
You have won the million $$$ question, but don't ask for the money
as a refusal may offend. ;D
See, it wasn't all that hard after all if you used the net, or the many clues.
But I won't do another 1970's quiz. Too many young members who don't know how to use the net 8)
Actually the quiz was to name each driver, to match each driver in photo order.
But Craig, you have done the best in naming all the drivers.
See you when you come to Qld.
I'll have some of Ant's Sugarless Confectionary, and/or buy you that beer or two.
Phil
