Many people have tried to contact Karting Australia to answer or explain about the new 2015 rules.
My friends question to KA has been (on several occasions), why is there a Weight Penalty imposed on the RL, Rotax, Fireball and Cheetah engines In TaG light and Heavy. But still no response from KA.
Someone recently mentioned a conspiracy theory taking place…Due to the lack of communication and clarity.......I now don’t know what to think anymore.
All I know is there are a lot of unhappy Karters out there at the moment who deserve better.
In August 2014 KA published a Whole of Sport Review document.
I was very optimistic with what they were proposing to put forward, it sounded good.
At the beginning of the document they said the following:
CREATING THE PATHWAY TO GROWTH, STABILITY AND INTEGRITY IN AUSTRALIAN KARTING
Since being vested with control of Australian karting on 1 September 2013 the Board and administration have been working diligently to build the foundations necessary to reshape and sustain karting for the long term.
It was apparent to us from the earliest time that our sport is in need of major cultural change.
We have recognised the need to put the fun and value back into karting for all to enjoy.
We will constantly strive to raise and deliver upon the expectations of all people entering into and involved in the sport.
For karting to flourish, our endeavours must be to attract, retain and train people to our sport – both competitors and officials.
We need people in karting who share our values of delivering and participating in healthy, safe, fun and value for money motor sport.
People who are focused on what our sport can become – not what it was or what they thought it was.
Sport that must be and will be conducted with integrity at all levels – at the events, on the race tracks, in the paddock and in the committee rooms of our Clubs and State Associations.
This ‘fresh eyes’ review of our sport has taken many months and involved broad consultation with our members and key stakeholders.
This report addresses, through a multi-faceted approach, six key principles that have largely gone missing from the sport of karting in Australia as it has developed:
1. Karting should be Fun………….
2. The need for sustainable Growth………….
3. The need to provide Value for money at all times…………
4. The need for Simplicity in a sport that is at times overly complicated……
5. The need for the sport at all levels and in all places to be conducted with INTEGRITY……
6. The need for improved Retention of competitors, participants, officials and stakeholders…..
HOW MUCH OF THIS IS A TRUE REFLECTION OF WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE MOMENT

I have sent 2 emails to COL since this topic was lock without explanation and I have received no response to either, SO I am opening it back up again for comment.

This is what you call a media release..
Statements like this are only ideals and outcomes, in which all oginisations would seek to achieve and of course, every karter would support. We all know that the outcomes described above is what karting needs to be successful.
Because these are mostly outcomes with little details on how this will be achieved it is easy to say what an outcome needs to be, but reality is that what one person thinks is achieving these outcomes is totally different to another. This is where the problems start.
When consultation is not done, then the method of achieving that outcome is not going to suit the majority. when pride and selfishness get added into the mix, mistakes and omission are attempted to be covered up and as the communication and consultation closes down and transparency is painted over to protect peoples pride and incompetence, then the appearance of integrity disappears.
I have always been of the opinion, Transparency and communication is the key. If you have nothing to hide, don't hide anything. Anyone who does not and will not communicate and does not follow their own rules of governance and have a transparent decision making process, should be scrutinised very closely as it is most likely they are secretive to hide something from someone.
This is all just generic comment and I am making no reference to KA in any of these comments.
People can make up their own minds about HOW MUCH OF THIS IS A TRUE REFLECTION OF WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THE MOMENT in regards to KA, and everyone will have a different opinion of that.

Communication, Integrity, Loyalty, Respect and Honesty in Australian Karting
Talking of which. Why are there so many of these posts in the Karting section of this Forum and not the politics section.
I thought this "Karting" section was meant to be targeting the questions that cover quote "Technical questions, race results, anything about karts!"
Not discussions around KA doing a good/or not so good job, rule changes General gripes etc.
I haven't seen much of the title being adhered to in this forum between karters of late, but each to their own, freedom of speech and domocracy and all that.
If I was a new guy looking at starting into the sport I would read all the whingy threads and think "gee do I want to get into this?"
Just an observation.
The Parrot Sketch is fun to watch the first 10 times around the 1000th time it gets a bit boring, besides, what have the Romans ever done for us?
Maybe the Forum moderators should move some of these Political Threads into the Political section?

Great post Paul Spencer.
I am a new guy to the sport and I use this site as an invaluable tool for information.
Yes please move all these noisy political posts somewhere else so we can find more info on how to set up a cadet kart on Dunlops or a 125 restricted on reds.
Hopefully most people new to the sport recognise that the disenchanted few are always more vocal than the contented masses!
BTW I assume that KA are rightly busier trying to implement new rules than replying to many letters or emails justifying the decision to implement the new rules.

I have been INSANELY busy in the last two weeks, guys, and there are plenty of emails I haven't answered I'm sorry to say. If I've missed one of yours I apologise.
That said, I can state with total certainty that I've been too busy to lock any topics so unless Fongy has some input here I'm having trouble working out what you're on about. Someone feel free to shoot me a link.

Darren Holliday, just in reply to your post... When you say contented masses it makes me wonder which club your currently racing at.. I mean this with absolute respect intended, I'm guessing you would be at a metro club in sydney or possibly qld. Mate there are other clubs in nsw country areas who are battling for entries.. One club I noticed on cms had 12 entries for a race day. Now I know that's probably an isolated example by I don't really see contented masses. Orange had 38 entries on the weekend, 20 of those being senior j, there were only three in cadet 9 and 12. So out of all the kids that exist in bathurst and Orange 6 of them race karts.. I see good elite level entries eg pro tour dubbo with good numbers then nothing in between.
The one point I think is most important from the ones outlined above is MONEY. Some of the kart manufacturers or someone somewhere should be challenged to come up with a cadet type kart that can be purchased with basic helmet and suit combined etc for 1500 to 2000

I didn't close the topic for discussion either as I have also been incredibly busy, the topic creator may have locked it also.
Given what is going on, I have absolutely no reason to lock any threads given they all have merit and are discussion worthy.
Carry on!

Hey guys,
I didn't close the topic for discussion either as I have also been incredibly busy, the topic creator may have locked it also.
Given what is going on, I have absolutely no reason to lock any threads given they all have merit and are discussion worthy.
Carry on!
Fong.
