Hello again
Over the recent months every one has been talking about more horse power more horse power. Bringing back CIK and also Formula 100 is on a come back. Thats great but what abou junior classes?
The junior classes would love to have some more horse power and it wont only just be great for the drivers to get some experience with some horsepower and some grip but it would also be great for the spectators.
If not KF3 maybe bring back Junior pistonport or Junior ICA. Both are also great classes.
Thanks
Jarred

Sorry every one. I have just been told that Junior ICA and Pistonport are same thing. Sorry
junior performancee would be exactly the same as restricted tag ( clubman power)
agreed jarred need some power for the juniors loved watching the jica's back with kandola's, lindbomb, josh scott
need them back!! or something similar
Hell yeah would love to see KF3! I think if you tried to re-introduce JICA it would be a step backwards.
Would be good to see it run along Titan Series with KZ2 & F100, then nationaly when numbers build up.
I recon International rules but maybe a control tyre, something along the grip levels of an MG Yellow but Vega or Bridgestone or something, just to take the monopoly away from MG & Dunlop would be good for the sport I think.
Kiwi's are already running KF3 and it's rapidly growing from what I hear!
would it have been BETTER if the current push to reignite CIK in Aus was directed at the juniors FIRST?? as we all KNOW if you are STILL in karts at 16 you AINT gunna be a F1 driver. It would have made sense to give those who would have benefited MOST from CIK first go,
But I think there are still a couple a dozen engines in shed somewhere looking for some use.......Juniors maybe??? [ restricted hp to Jnr level?]
Adam,
not sure if its a good thing to step too far away from CIK rules, as the WHOLE idea of CIK is to give Aussie drivers the experience of using equipment the WORLD uses, so when our young guns go OS they are not handicapped by never having experienced the class properly. I can appreciate that if its left open to CIK the ever present $$$ [ or lack of it comes into play] makes its presence felt. Thats what killed off CIK last time.
Are we really gaining anything by claiming what we run IS CIK but closer study its close but not the same??
if the seniors can only muster 12 drivers what can the jnr attract? keeping in mind the costs needed to run it properly, proper CIK run in multiple states [ not just a single event but a series etc] I would expect double would be possible??

Well KF2 is an absolout abortion of the CIK rules in Aus.
Tho ONLY difference I would like to see is for the cost side of things. Still running a medium-soft compund tyre which is not too far from CIK rules..?
to the purests, having a controlled tyre is NOT true CIK!!!
we only controll the tyres to control the costs, same with the engines, as we all know what karters will do to win don't we spend bucket loads of $$$ but by doing so are we compromising CIK?
Internationally KF3 runs CIK Hard compound tyres.
In NZ we run Bridgestone YJL (same tyres as Yamaha classes) which is slower than CIK Hard and slower than MG Red.

Ah I was waiting for you to reply Robert. When Arie races at the World Champs this year, what tyres will he be using? And what tyre would they compare to? Eg softer than MG red? MG Yellow?
Paul, you see plenty of events in Europe that will run a single make tyre for an event, just not the really big stuff.
As Robert has said in other threads, they have a Vortex and TM KF3 and they have the same split times, so I dont see how allowing different engine makes would be bad? It would be good for the industry, and allowes people to pick up a decent second hand engine for a reasonable price rather than having to fork out for a brand new one like KF2 in Aus.
Hi Adam,
To me CIK is to allow a multi engine class with a choice of tyres available, if we can get a close parity in engine performance and drivers get to choose the engine/tyre packages then it would be good. if there is only a poofteenth between these engines the risk is ppl will spend $$ to get that poofteenth extra and when you offer BIG prizes or status $$ is a less option and we end up finding not the best driver but the best driver who can affor to race, but thats always been motorsport eh ;-)

I think that bringing back classes like that is a waste of time and money. The sport already had enough classes as it is and numbers have been dropping in some classes because of the costs, in juniors there is JNL, JNH, JC and JMA more then enough classes for juniors to spread between. JMA is more the fast enough for junior drivers, any increase in speed would most likely lead to more crashes and higher costs. We should be cutting costs not increasing them.

I believe that aswell mate, but I don't know if it would work in Aus straight off the bat. European CIK could addapt to changes like fish to water because there is a very large percentage of Factory teams. In Aus it's more privateers making their own mark.
For KF2 & 3 to work you need indusrty support. Here is my idea of cost containment: If everyone got serious about it you would have tenders for companys to bring in one particular engine, and they are each required to stock X amound of spares etc. The average racer does not have to buy engines brand new, but have the comfort of knowing someone stocks spares for their engine in this country. In order for these dealers to get the tender, they would have to set a price list for all parts and that would have to remain for the remainder of the world homologation period. When that period is up, tenders are once again open.
Same would go for tyres. Dealer sets the price, remains the same price for the period of the contract. That way you can have X amount of tyre brands with competative costs and stability.
James: Re "The sport already had enough classes as it is and numbers have been dropping in some classes because of the costs, in juniors there is JNL, JNH, JC and JMA"
Yes and no... Yes there are alot of classes already, but J's are a club level class and will always have a strong following even at Nationals because it's the entry class, cheap and the natural progression. KF isn't a club level class and isn't designed to be, so you wont be taking any drivers away from it. I don't agree with the whole JC vs. Jmax thing, being similar performance it was never going to help.
Re: "any increase in speed would most likely lead to more crashes and higher costs"
I totally disagree with that, you're not plucking Rookie drivers into KF3, you want the best of the best Juniors.
Hell in Europe kids race KZ1 at 15!!
