Hi Guys,
Can anyone help me please, i need to know a step by step guide on wiring in a engine kill switch.
All i have so far is a on/off toggle switch but i have no idea what wire i splice into from the ignition.
I have a Rotax 257 with SEM ignition.
Appreciate your help !
Ant

So what's the norm with webmasters then to shut engine down, just stall it ?
What if you had a stuck throttle or a problem and needed to kill engine quickly ?
Cheers,

Yes, if it doesn't have a battery, quite often there is no kill switch. You just adjust the idle out or just choke the carb/airbox etc with your hand or you can pull the clutch Cole Trickle style and grenade the engine!!
If you want to put a kill switch in, just cut into the/one of the small coil wires and attach the other end back to the engine somewhere to ground after the switch. This is great for running the engine in coz you can just leave your foot down and kill the spark with the switch. It gives the piston a good drink of unburnt fuel.
Our last years twin engine had a kill switch and (Darren) would just push the button twice when in 6th gear for the first 4 laps and 100% throttle everywhere else and then once in 6th gear and 100% throttle everywhere else for a few laps after that. It sounds pretty cool to and nearly blows the pipes off the engine when it ignites the fuel afterwards!!
