Just a congratulations to GKCV for having the balls to talk about tyre treatment, and actually do something about it. Hopefully the test on the treated tyres will prove a success.
It is obviously running hectic in the sport at the moment, and seems to have been pushed under the mat for the last 5 years.
It seems as though they have done more to combat tyre treatment and cheating in the last week, than the AKA has done in their entirety.

Can you elaborate on this? Do you mean tires will be tested at todd road?
From kartsportnews:
"Due to allegations of tyre treatment being used by some karters, the GKCV Race Committee has determined the following course of action for this weekend’s “Allstars” Meeting.
Random testing of competitors tyres prior to leaving the out grid for timed practice and heats will be carried out to check for shore hardness. If unusual readings compared to a standard set of new tyres for that class are detected, samples will be taken and sent to the University currently testing a known set of treated tyres.
The committee is of the belief that the results of the testing of sample treated tyres previously submitted to Deakin University will be known as early as two weeks away.
Despite popular theories that current tyre treatment formulas are undetectable, the committee is reliably informed that this may not be the case.
GKCV reminds those that may be contemplating using tyre treatment of the severe penalties applicable to those individuals detected."
I was just about to make a post congratulating the GKCV committee, when I saw you'd beaten me to it Breta...
I hope they DO catch some people, and "name and shame" them... cheating just makes karting boring as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure if a few people got their names dragged through the mud (and deserved it), it would certainly put a lot of other people off trying the same thing.
Good work Wall-E Senior, Willo Senior, et al...
(ps, this is Australia Fongy, and they're called tYYYYYYYYres!)
Mate i'm a short asian, give us a break OK.
couldnt agree more that this is great initiative by the club and vka to do theese tyre tests to rectify cheats in our sport..
butt maybe shoudlnt have publicised it? but now it is known people who have been using it wont tend to use it and cant be delt the punishment, where as if it was unknown people wh have beeen using it and cheating could get caught and delt with accordingly.
just my opinion
About Time! What about Axle thickness testing? Fuel Testing?
Indeed.
Everything is quite lapsed these days, testing wise.

Its about time someone has taken matters into their own hands, hats off to you GKCV the last time we were ever tyre tested was Orange Junior State Titles 2003. I hope this is the start of the sport being cleaned up
maybe they should be checking the 'Blackbox' ignition modules on the J's aswell.
Dont know why your banging on about GKCV and their committee. WE have been checking tyres with durometers all of the Vic country series, looking for indications of tyre treatment. We have taken samples of suspect tyres at south west and awaiting test results as we speak. So dont go on about we are doing nothing. Some of the country clubs are leading the way into trying to stamp out all illegal practices. When was the last time you had your fuel sampled, rear track measured, etc etc.
Dont get me wrong it great to see this checking happening. but dont advertise it, you wont catch anybody.......
I just hope that the testing is done in a consistant and reliable manner....
I am not sure that a gyrometer is going to be the tell all tale that you are using treatment or not.... there are many factors that can change the reading on a gyrometer, and its not just the hardness.
I had my tyres checked today.... and they were 20 points or something like that softer than that specified on the MG website...... why? because they were checked when I was on the in-grid......
as I said, I just hope that they are getting checked the right way...
But definately congratulations to everyone implementing an even playing field!
anyone got any news from all the test's carried out?
I had my tyres poked twice over the weekend, and from what i saw, it seemed every single kart was tested! good on GKCV.
