Well we have all read the out come of the AKA review of the kt 100 and with the motor the Yamaha j . first of all my two bobs worth is that the mention of the these two motors to be taken out, caused a big big drama for the AKA But now reading there new terms or conditions or what ever you call I,t ok lets call it there say fazed out is there word. THE FACT these two motors can still be run at club level and SO it should be, me personaly I do not care about state and national titles if you want that by the big dollar motor pick your club . I am honest person I have a kt100s and a ARCW that's water cooled yes they are old yes but yes they give these new motors a run for there money. last but not least if you have not looked at theses new motors coming to the AKA I suggests looking purely because, didn't ppl from years ago say today saying water cooled is the way Hello these motors are AIR COOLED motors and you want to go further in this sport by a NEW AIR COLLED MOTOR there a lot coming out in the next two years . STRANGE YOU SAY isn't water cooled the way to go

Brett, that is the same boat I am in, however what I envisage will happen is those that do want to chase the glory of a state plate, will be off into that series and not race club level. This is where the club racing and clubs in general will suffer big time.
The state and national level racing along with the Pro Tour series will have to be run by them as I can't see many clubs having a track that meets the criteria for being categorize A or B so therefore won't want a round of it.
I can understand about the Rookie engine being air cooled, for weight etc. But I can not understand the IAME being air cooled, except, perhaps you then have 2 senior classes, One air cooled and one water cooled.
The new engines do have long service life according to the specs but I guess time will tell if they end up being rebuilt every couple of hours in the illusion of a performance benefit.
Don't be fooled though, the S and J can only be used in club competition beyond 2017, Club championships, that is their cut off if I read it right. Makes no sense to me, but that how I read it.
David , you got right regarding the S and Js. But note- the paper is only that, the announcements are NOT rules yet!
And there is nothing to stop a club from running Js and Ss in their own races and 'national' engines separately. Do that and the national engines will die out from lack of support, if they get in.
But to me , as I wrote in another thread, why the new engines are not four strokes and / or water cooled is strange. The tracks are having issues with noise, and both types cut the perceived noise levels down a lot.

Isnt the New Mini Rok 18Kg ?
How come u guys don't like the idea of air cooled I think less stuff to go wrong
I agree with you Kris. Love air cooled J and S
It is not that I don't like air cooled motors - I run 3 of them now. I totally agree they are closer to the ideal of KISS engineering.
However, if new engines are going to be introduced then 4 stroke air cooled or a water cooled 2 or four stroke should be considered as noise is an issue for many tracks now.
Whilst 4 strokes are more complex, they also can stand being run for long periods at low to medium speeds with no adverse effects which is good for beginners/learners.
A 4 stroke Chonda class would be fun for club level sprint racing would be fun too.
True i still look at my Rotax and cringe at all the hoses and stuff going on compared to something nice and simple that gets you round in a decent time. Also i hear the rebuild times on the new motors rival a water cooled. kris centofanti intense karting said:

until the engine builders and our need to keep everything "fresh" sees rebuilds back to as usual, remember industry do NOT want engines that run forever between engine rebuilds does them out of money, why do you think they didn't go for the Mini/micro max??? cheaper purchase and much longer rebuild time than aircooled???? can go from cadets through to open 125 hmmmmmm
