Has anyone had a chance to compare a cnc barreled rotax to a non cnc barrel. I need to know how much difference there is.I have read there could be up to 17% better with the cnc barrel.
It would be nice to get the facts instead of the usual fiction / hearsay
John hows it going?
I'll let you know have purchased an 09, havent bolted it on yet to try. But I hope 17% is correct, wouldn't that be nice.
We back to back one this week and they aren't the magical 2-4 tenths faster as all of the hype is. Maybe there's a tenth in it depending on track changes during the day.

Hi Tony
How would you have rated the engine you used to compare it with against current quick Rotaxes?
(My point being if someone currently has a slug then it will feel quick but if they already have a pretty competative motor then the difference may be minimal?)
I heard they are going to be at least 500% faster.
i heard that the new barrel and clutch are so fast that you actually finish races before you start...
This is history repeating itself folks, the same scenario happened in 2006 when the "07" barrels were released, very little difference, very expensive exercise !

exactly right. every new part that is introduced is apparently "2-3 tenths" faster. if every new bit really was as fast as the rumours say we'd be running as quick as F1 by now....

Im with you heard lots of it before - same issue during the fuel shortages there were so many fuel saving devices available one would have to drain fuel out of the tank during a long trip!!
Don't rush out and buy one. They're not a instant trophy out of the box.
Tested a freinds 09 the other day and no faster than his good 2006 engine.
There is more in getting the chasis right .I've been beating blokes with rocket
ship engines for years. My engine is at leased 3 tenths slower than his 06.I'd
buy his 06 before 09 ,there's alot more you can do to the PRE 08's.

Thats 2 tested for "not much in it"
0 tested as "rocketships"
If Richard Branson thought you could buy a rocketship for $3K, he may not have invested so heavily in Virgin Galactic!
