So yeah, basically what do you do? Put Karting before HSC, or do u have a rest for the year? or do you run ur HSC project at a state tittle and win?? :P

school first. balance is whats needed.
maybe cut back around exam time.
just look at a lot of some ex footballers who left early to chase a career, got hurt now have nothing.
School - Always.
There is no choice as far as we are concerned. Motorsport is a pipe dream! Down to luck. If you dont have good results in school nobody wants to talk to you anyway. Teams dont deal with dummies.
Clinton Baldock said:For the average person every second weekend is not a problem if you are diligent throught the week. But such a thing is so subjective. Only you know you, and what you want out of life. If you are a 95 student but only need a 70 to do your prefered uni course then kart away, but if you're a 70 student who needs a 95 then karting may need to take a back seat for a year.
Make a plan of all the race meets you want to go to and work your study around them. Im in yr 12 and i just organise my skool around racing
School, end of story....
Do laps say twice a month, but the school work is to come first every time.
If your options are full time international racing career or builders labourer (and I can say that because I was one for a while, labourer not F1 star that is) you might want to give some extra priority to the racing.
If like most of us you'll need to work for the next 50 years at a "real" job because we're unlikely to ever have a paid full time drive, buckle down and get the school work done right and fit the racing in when you can. A year only seems like a long time when its in front of you.
Mate i spent the first 3 months of year 11 in europe and didnt think about school once. Spent half of year 12 in Melbourne when i went to school in Northern NSW. Still easy passed HSC. Get your race suit on.... youd only be sitting at school thinking about racing... =)
Wise words Scott.
So, so true.....

Hey, I'm sitting at work thinking about karting but that doesn't mean I'll ditch work tomorrow to be at the track
Then again, I'm 28 with a family, a mortgage and VERY VERY slender chances of ever being a state champion. From the looks of his profile Mitch is young, less tied down and has already ticked the state title off his list.
Just need to have a backup plan that your happy with if racing doesn't work out. If that's working boring jobs for less money than your mates maybe don't worry about the education. Thats no slur on you either Adam :)
haha no offense taken..
I mean - Your only young once...get as much fun in as possible before you are tied down with mortgages etc..
fact is...backup plan is needed
like Paul said, balance is whats needed.

Racing is something to look forward to after a week of school. Thats how i look at it anyway.
And have your sights set on what ya wanna do after school.
