It is with great regret that the committee of Oakleigh Go Kart Club wish to advise all karters that due to lack of entries the Southern City Classic has been canceled this weekend.
All entry fees will be refunded in full. We will contact all karters who have entered directly.
Remember the upcoming events at Oakleigh for 2010,
Junior Top Guns 15th, 22nd January 2010, we are giving away another Arrow Chassis to a lucky karter.
Victorian Open 12, 13, 14th February 2010.
There are a lot of exciting changes happening at Oakleigh.
We look forward to seeing all karters race at Oakleigh in the near future.

That's a shame. The Southern City Classic has never really recieved good entries in the past several years aye?
Is it format, or the track itself that deters people from coming?
I reckon one reason is that there is some other motor race on this weekend... some guys in their hotted up V8's racing around some mountain in the middle of nsw - you might have heard of it?
I also think that the calendar is too full on right now. We did nationals 2 weeks ago, nsw state titles was last weekend and the weekend after is the final round of the All Star Series at Pucka.
Most people see the chance to have the weekend off, relax and watch Bathurst - that's the way i see it anyway.
I thought the format was an excellent idea and hope that the cancellation of the meeting doesn't mean they won't try it again. Maybe they could try it at a night club day and see how it goes?
Good call
Paul - did they put v8's on their go karts or something?

Thanks for your support, and comments, The committee of OGKRC are always trying new ideas and formats. The general response we have received is that we are at a very busy time in the karting calendar.
Most people have been supportive of the format proposed. The Club will look at trying this format at an upcoming event.

I wouldn't say it is the track that deters people from entering. The Begonia City Titles in Ballarat was called off last weekend as well due to a lack of entries I think?
Where have all the entries gone?
A meeting being called off due to a lack of entries was unheard of a few years ago..
Oakleigh Go Kart Club will have the gates open this Saturday for any karters to come and practice.
The track will be open from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Please note this is practice only, there will be NO canteen.
