i really don't see the point in adding yet another class to an already over offered sport (class-wise), if people wanna race a clubman, then race clubman, if people wanna race a clubman thats not much quicker than a j, then race j. saying that though, i'm told this class has a strong following in gladstone and they're having a ball apparently, which is what its all about i suppose.

that's spot on andrew, it's our strongest class here. i personally wouldn't mind seeing TAG100 replace SN.
replace s/n with tag 100, man thats a can of worms i would'nt want to open. read A G's discussion on banning s/n at state titles and nationals

If you going to purchase a new kart, would you go a rotax res or yamaha 100 TAG?
The 125 res class has more poeple in it?
Cheers Greg
TAG 100 will be finished after this weekend if the agenda item on banning the sale or motors in experimental classes gets up.
TAG 100 is an experimental class!!!

how so? and i have been following that discussion.
advantages:
- cheaper entry (no blueprinting)
- closer racing (no blueprinting)
- TAG, no external starter
- SL1 tires
- restrictions on modifications
- near enough the same performance as SN
disadvantages:
- yet to come across one

depends on your area really.
hey terry, so those poor buggers that bought these engines can't run them ? can they be blue printed and run in normal clubman ?
nice job on the rotax gladiators rd4 by the way !

the simple fact is it's another class to fit into an already packed program at most meetings, officials are already run off there feet trying to get through the classes we already have, in south east qld anyway.
if the engines performance is so close to a j, then why not just run j ? a j engine will out-last a clubby too.
don't get me wrong here, i think its great that you guy's up there have all got together in a perticular class and are having good times.
i do think one of your - advantages- "tag" is a disadvantage though, the starter motor, clutch and battery will eventually stuff up, which is another expence

Number of classes are a pain in the butt! aammmm
But: Tag 100 cheaper buying price, don't have to push start are the biggies for me!
But: to run in clubman the engine not as powerfull, from my understanding a little different inside from push start clubman, then there blue print printing another $800.
But 125 Res have more to go wrong, water cooled!
Why not all get together and have a cheap social class, run them at the back of the club heavy on race days?
Cheers Greg
We have around thirty in gladstone its a good class to watch only the old fellas race it but it seems to be gaining even more competitors i herd that townsville has somthing like 50 but they neva all show up. And the quality of drivers are good like Cian Fothergills dad Rae and alot of the older kart dealers that havent raced in a while do it because its so regulated and easy to be competeive in
When I get some more time in my kart (learn to drive it well) in come up gladstone for a weekend of fun.
Cheers Greg

That assumes that the TAG100 people want to run in Clubman ( which they apparently don't ). Aside from the lower running cost, One of the reasons as to why it has taken off so well in certain areas is that it is a bit less tough on the bod as a result of the SL1's. This I can tell you first hand is also why many of the Mums and Dads race J's & not clubbys, there is only so much desire to buy a new Porsche for my chiropractor...
