Phoenix karts

By Russ James, 19 April, 2012
Ok, firstly I'm new to the kart scene so don't flame me for this post. I also do realize that the owner of this site owns or used to own, Phoenix karts. I have searched here and other sites for more info and have been quite unsuccessful.

I'm looking at buying a phoenix kart, 32mm, with a rotax on it. Are parts readily available for these things. I think they look good and they are in my price range and would be a good kart to learn on. I live in Sydney as well.

Cheers

How old is it James? The Phoenix karts where developed by Col Fink, he happens to be the person who runs kartbook! He also run's a karting business in Melbourne called K-Racer, there are bits and pieces for that kart there, If there's something you need for that kart that isn't listed there you should still be able to contact him via mobile or email and he'll supply it for you and what not. There was an actual phoenix website, though it looks like Col's taken that website down since I last looked, I've just done a quick google myself.  There where some useful PDF files on that site to help guide you in setup, such as seat position, rear track, etc etc, I'll have a look on my comp and see if I've still got them, though since owning that kart we have since had to replace our computer, so there's a good chance the files I had for it are on the old computer which is now long gone.In the meantime though, there is a kartbook group for Phoenix: http://kartbook.ning.com/xn/detail/2879226:Group:14828?xg_source=ac..., you can have a prowl through that and see what you can find.Hope that helpsEDIT:Just had a look for any phoenix related PDF's, haven't got anything for it now I'm afraid :(, definitely worth emailing Col if you end up buying that kart and it isn't handling right and your stumped as to which direction you go in setup, there are even setup vid's on that k-racer website to help guide you along as well.

I can still supply you with almost any part you might need for that kart, and definitely I can still help you with setup. IF the price is right, go for it :)

I bought a new phoenix stealth chassis in 2005. It performed well, the only problem was the plate that mounts the master cylinder would break and it constantly needed wheel alignments. 2 years Iater i bought a new phoenix stratos chassis which needed welding after 4 race meetings and thereafter. I sold it for rock bottom dollar as nobody would buy a second hand phoenix without a free welder included. I left the sport (for a few years) broke and disappointed because of it. My advice is get something else!

I had great success with the Phoenix brand of karts. This may sound stupid but the Phoenix kart made me a better driver, as I was driving poor karts in the past that were very hard to setup. The Phoenix responded very well to setup changes giving me a 'feel' for the effects of changes that I made. I still deeply regret selling the first Phoenix kart I owned, it was brilliant.
I still have the setup sheets and all associated pdf files on my computer I can email through to you if you need.

Hi, i have a 2006 Phoenix…

Hi, i have a 2006 Phoenix Jet 28/28 that i run in 4ss. A member at my club used to race for Phoenix. He was intrigued with my Jet and told me he used to race the Phoenix Stratos 30/32 and the Stealth 30/30. He said he much prefered the Stealth but the one fault the Phoenix's had was poor weld quality in certain places, especially the seat stays. I've had to get my right hand seat stay welded as it cracked where it meets the frame. Other wise my research suggests these Aussie made karts were top performers nationally and were purpose build to win races. Apart from becoming rare Info on Phoenix is getting had to find.....I've saved about as much as i can find online, let us know if there is anything in particular i can help with.........

No problem, most of what i…

No problem, most of what i have collected are karting magazine articles, photos of Phoenix karts, parts lists and sales pages. I'm away at work for a week but will email you what i have when i get home. What I've read about Col Fink is he put his heart and soul into Karting and Phoenix race karts but his dedication and passion did'nt match the racing(inc some bad luck) and buisness results he was hoped for. It's good to see these karts still on the track mixing it all the newer kart..................
