Now that KA have forced a multi round State championship and the fact that it is the lesser “Close State Title”, I wonder why they did not effect a tyre pooling scenario with a maximum of 2 sets of tyres to be used in any combination over the 5 rounds.
Would have reduced the cost to the karter to compete from $1250 to $500 approx just in tyres alone.
Why wouldn’t you?? Would also teach tyre management
OR
If they have no tyre pooling as is now and everyone is going to buy 5 sets of tyres just for this series.........
THEN
Why would you not have draw reverse at normal meetings so everyone would be more likely to support the club level events and use up all these tyres.
As it stands now with the bizarre method of qualifying at EVERY meeting, people are basically forced to buy new tyres for every meeting they attend, or give away the 0.5 sec advantage that new tyres have and start somewhere further back for the first 3 heats of every meeting.
Surely it would make much more sense to encourage people to run lots of meetings and inject funds back into the clubs??
Am I missing something?? Maybe I just don’t understand the KA strategy!!

The reality is that the state cant support a 5 round series and club meeting s with the new tyres. If your in JNL your lucky if you can get a decent practice session out of them after a race meeting. Bring back the 1 round stste series I say and many others agree.
Ian,
the state used to run a very successful 5 round Festival State Cup - so while that has gone due to the state title series, I don't see that the state series is the main factor.
In your case poorly performing tyres are certainly an issue and I stand by my comment above - qualifying at all meetings is just a stupid and unnecessary expense that forces everyone to have new tyres every meeting to be competitive.
And while I'm on tyres.......
I am amused that open tag are on a tyre that makes them no faster than the restricted guys on their DFM.
If anything the tyres should be the other way around to make Open tag a step up !
But then I guess we would be in the embarrassing scenario of a few years ago when Leopard light was faster than the premier CIK class and we can't have that can we !!
I only hope KA will start to focus on the base of the triangle before it has left the farm for good!
"Am I missing something?? Maybe I just don’t understand the KA strategy!!"
Ian. I don't think anyone who actually races (including those who use to race) on a budget understands any of the KA's strategies, so I don't think it is you that is messing something. :-(
Except understanding the narrow minded, ill conceived, self seeking plans they have implemented into the once fun sport of karting.
