Does any one know what the plans are for SKRC next year after Oran Park shuts. Will they keep racing at a track currently used ( eastern creek or lithgow)? or look at a new track in the Sydney area. A new track would be nice!!!!

WKRC members are also racing at Oran Park this year. So there are 2 clubs without a track and of course Eastern Creek is not owned by SKRC. So at the moment the only "AKA" tracks owned by clubs anywhere close to Sydney are Ltihgow and Newcastle. Yes we really do need another AKA track close to Sydney. Where? When? who knows?
As for next year and the 3 clubs - have a guess. It could be crowded at E/C

How long before the new track at Marulan built by Gary willmington will be pased to race on

Is it even a possibility? I heard that Gary didn't want any racing down there and was predominately going to be used for driver training
There will be no racing at Marulan, even if the track was to be upgraded it will take at least 12 months. Forget Wollongong, not to many AKA affiliated people will support anything to do with Pro Kart, the way they treated the Wollongong Club. SKRC will no longer be using Oran Park after this year. Gary Holt has already told NSKC he will be increasing his rent next year. Where does that leave the majority of AKA licence holders? Where can they race? The Sydney basin has the highest percentage of AKA licence holders than any where else, and as of next year they will virtually be without a track to run on. Why? Too much of 'Leave it to us, we will handle everything' and to little of'Actually doing anything'.
As far as WKRC is concerned they are pro active in attemtping to locate land to create a new circuit, as for SKRC I can't comment, but from the outside it doesn't appear to be very much.
What is needed is a circuit owned and operated by one of the major Sydney Clubs. If anyone knows of land that can be used for this purpose or knows of people who are willing to help back the project, I would urge you to submit their name and contacts to this forum.

Everyone is more than welcome to race at Orange, only 3hrs from Sydney..

It looks like unfortunately there will be a limited verity i tracks for racing next year. I am now a member of combined districts having been a member of SKRC, but still race at eastern creek and oran park. I have asked a few people what the plans are for SKRC and WKRC for racing next year and nobody has given a confident answer. It would be a shame to see both of the Sydney clubs race at the same track all year. If that is the case I would not be that keen to race both clubs each race meet, as people do now because it will all be the same track.
Hopefully there is a decision made soon if not already for a long term solution.
what if all the sydney clubs merged into 1 super club and we race at the creek
big fields sound good to me

The fields would be too big and not enough time for racing, unless meetings were split over 2 days or 2 weekends. It still negates a lot of racing however. It is dependent also if North Shore take up their option to continue racing there given Holt has indicated he is about to raise the rent on the track. We can no longer sit back waiting for the AKA to help out acquiring a new track. This matter is now at a stage of desperation.
WHO CARES IF HE RAISES THE RENT THE BIGGER ENTRIES WOULD MAKE IT THE SAME ,PERCENTAGE WISE TO COSTS ,AS IT IS NOW

In my opinion it should be in AKA Australia's Business Plan to have (and $UPPORT) a Sydney based AKA Club controlled track. SKRC is the logical operator with NSKC continuing to race and practice at Eastern Creek.
What is best for AKA karting and karters ?
We have come a fair way from when I suggested to the CEO that requiring a club to have all its financing in place and then request a max. (no pun intended) $50,000 at the AKA AGM was not the best option.
The lack of an AKA operated track in Sydney is a huge THREAT for AKA Australia and every karter in Australia.
A new track near the Gold Coast should also be high on the agenda.
AKA wont do**** all about skrc and wkrc.
why do you think they are having the NSW state titles at oran park. to go out with a BANG, and that will probably be the end of that.
im a member of both clubs, and i was furious when wkrc couldnt race at wollongong, and now skrc wont have a track...
we cant all go to eastern creek. you need track variation!
oran park's dismissal is going to be bad for car racing too, which im involved in. eastern creek is the only track left, unless your willing to travel to wakefield.
since i live in the shire, i do know that at the barden ridge sports grounds there is a HUGE open area just waiting for a kart track. $$$ is the only thing holding me back.
