Dear kartbookers,
In light of todays announcement, who wants to contribute to a competition called,
"Innovative uses for an ARC spec 100W engine."
The boat anchor use is a bit cliche'd now, though the kids chassis could be sold off to buy a tinny and some fishing gear, so what else can we come up with?
My idea is they could be presented as trophies to Australian Kart Engine Manufacturers at a gala night to reward and encourage local investment and development in the industry. We could hire in a pay tv station to broadcast the evening and will use a media company to tell us how successful the event was.
OK, that's my idea, what others are there?

Shame the shape's not better, I need some extra ballast to keep the fuel level down. Maybe I could use one to keep my door from slamming in the wind?
LOL
45 mins to beer 0'clock people!!!
I started early :)
watchin the pro tour at raleigh coverage on fox, no less.
thanks to whoever put up the reminder on the front page!!!!
will they still be used at events which run the 'sportsman' senior class?
I have a soft spot for the ARC W/C.
Frank was a very supportive man of Australian karting. Damn those things with RAAP CX1's on them though sounded sooooooo mean.
I'd probably keep em and run it in practice, they don't wear out for a little while those things!
So, what exactly WAS IT that Frank or Anthony did that was SO wrong !!
To just banish the ARC spec 100W seems the sought of punishment matched to a major crime.
Does anyone know the ACTUAL reasoning behind the decision ?
Tom, hate to break the bad news to you mate but Frankie has been dead for a couple of years now. With him gone, the company has wasted away and is no longer producing engines.
It's a great shame, but without Frankie, there is no ARC.
Frank had a vision, he had a vision that he could have a motor that would last you the use from juniors to seniors with the change of barrel and that was it. Frank did not only have this dream, it was there and it was in living proof. I am not sure who tested the 125CC version of the spec of it, but it was just a great concept that frank had.
As far as the stuff that went down with the AKA, i don't know, I think Col has some more insight to that?

i like your trophies idea.
Tim O'Reilly said:In the immortal words of Darryl Kerrigan, "It'll be straight to the pool room with that".
lol, best movie ever. :D
Can I get one
I need to add it to my collection of the most money spent on useless items.
It could go on the Shelf with my Comer S80,
right next to the reserved spot for my Rookie Yamaha J which they want to phase out and shove in a SW80 with pipe exhaust.
right next to my push button ignition for the leopard which has a spot beside it waiting for the leopard when they eventually phase that out.
right next to my 13.5mm Midget exhaust restrictor next to my 13.02 mm exhaust restrictor
I have a few more spots lined up for the other engines that I will buy over the next few years in rookies/juniors that will be phased out just after i get them.
I am thinking of Chrome plating the lot just to make them shiny and easier to dust.
Donate your ARC to your state karting body to be used as a "come and try day motor". Its the least you can do to show your appreciation.

I raced against one of the 125cc versions in open class a few years ago. The thing was bloody quick too, as they were allowed to run quite light within the WA rules. I actually still have a barrel somewhere for one of them too as we discovered that the stud pattern of the cylinder would fit a PCR 135 Rotary that we had possession of at the time. Unfortunately its rightfull owner claimed the engine back before we could experiment with how we could turn the PCR into a water cooled 135cc, would have been a reliable rocket i reckon.
