Got a shock today when i went to change the oil in my 4 month old Leopard X-30. Somehow, water has managed to get into the gearbox. Both the radiator and gearbox overflow into the same catch tank so I'm hoping the water just siphoned its way in there some how and its not a leaking water jacket.
Are there any seals that could be leaking inside? or are both the water jacket and gearbox compleatly seperated by the crank case? Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
Its a pretty easy fix, just one i didnt want to deal with right before the weekend.

A lot of x30s I see have no catch bottle for the balance gears at all. Â I run a tube about 30cm long and plug it at the end.

Is it necessary to run an overflow?
I was suggested to run a hose with a fuel filter on the end of it. The rules state an over flow bottle is required on all breathers i believe but it doesnt give a volume, so by the rules a fuel filter can fit the bill. Also stops dirt getting back into the crank case.
Just an idea and it is what i have done and it has to be better than an open breather hose.Chris White said:

Both my kart and wife's X-30 have a tube about 20cm long with a fuel filter on it.......no probs with water or dirt/grit in oil
Thanks for the feedback guys. I got it sorted out on Saturday morning. Thankfully the water came from the radiators over flow and not leaking elseware. The gearbox & radiator now have a seperate containers hopefully fixing it forever.
