The draft Supp Regs are with the clubs now, and I have asked for comment/feedback from them by the end of this weekend.
I can confirm that the first round will be 21st/22nd May at Toowoomba. At this time the proposed meeting timetable is controlled practice Saturday morning, series entries close at 12:15, Drivers Briefing 12:45 with first Carby/Qual session commencing 1:00PM. First heats will be held Saturday afternoon, and remaining heats, pre-Finals and Finals on Sunday.
Classes to be run are :
Midgets, Rookies, Junior National Light, Junior National Heavy, JMAX
Senior National Light, Clubman Light, Clubman Heavy, Clubman Over 40,
Rotax Light, Rotax Heavy, 125 Restricted Light & Heavy
To run, a class will need 8 series entries by close of entry on Saturday 21st. If a class is deleted because of lack of entries, those drivers already registered will be given the option of transferring to another class.
Pre-entries are welcome, email treasurer@toowoombakartclub.com for details.
Commenst and feedback welcomed!

Good Work i should be there...... Would be nice to have a bit of extra practice on the Saturday i know warwick last year did qualifying saturday arvo only and it worked good.
At this stage the timing is only a proposal. I'm sure that we can work adjust it to work well for drivers. After all, this series is for you guys and gals . . .
Gday Dennis , Is Senior National Light a done deal or if numbers would it agree would it be possible to run at a pro weight to try get some heavier J guys to be able to run the series. Just a thought- congrats on getting this series going again .
Great work Dennis, hopefully all comes through, I know a lot of people that were dissapointed when this series fell away! I'll definetly be trying to run the whole series, any idea of the rest of the series events? And I agree with Jason, qualifying out of the way is a good idea on the Saturday, and then the heats on the Sunday.
Luke, once again if the drivers support a Pro weight, we'll look at it.
How about we show the doubters that Kartbook can be a good thing, and get a positive result from the feedback. If you know other Snr Nat competitors, get them to either post here or email me.
I just posted on the J Burners group to get a feel as I know theres a lot of south east qld racers in that group that get together at Ipswich so I'll see what people's thoughts are - cheers
Hey Dennis, happy to run at light or pro weight, but I'm guessing will encourage heavier guys if it's pro weight, maybe 145 as most of us strip everything so we can to get somewhere close to 140, and lighter guys won't have to drive lead tanks compared to if it's 147 or 150 :)
Sorry to be the 1st one in with a negative but I feel I’ve got to say there are too many classes. The southern star series was originally meant to be something along the lines of a Qld Pro Tour plus a few support classes. Obviously we can't have an event as big as the pro tour but it should still be better than a typical club day. In my opinion the classes should be RL, RH, Jmax, Tag R L+ H, CL and SNL. Don't get me wrong I’m happy this is starting up again and can't wait but I feel it’s in a slightly wrong direction.
Only my thoughts and good job in bringing it back.
Scott, that's not negative - in a one day meeting it is a very valid observation. That's the other reason for making the Southern Star meetings a two day event.
The classes being offered this year are a follow on from last year - they were supported and requested.
I'm going to be actively seeking feedback from competitors in this years series to see just what is wanted for next year. As I've said earlier, we are trying to bring this particular series back to the clubs and the karters. If the clubs feel we have too many classes on offer, or two days is too long, then we'll adjust the format to suit.

Hi Dennis,
The Southern Stars event should be treated a little higher than a normal club day as it is a feature event for the rotax and the thought of qualifying adds a little extra excitement to the event.
The saturday afternoon qualifying in my opinion is a great idea as it lets the racing commence first up on Sunday morning without any unnecessary holdups.
Nothing worse than what happened a year or so back at another track when some of the rotax classes only completed 2 races due to darkness.
I think most would appreciate the practice on the Saturday morning and then into qualifying saturday arvo.
what are the dates for the other rounds etc
The five rounds are :
Toowoomba May 22/23
Lismore Jun 4/5
Gold Coast (@ Cooloola) Jul 30/31
Cooloola (rev. direction) Sep 3/4
Warwick Nov 12/13
Racing format is :
Saturday Drivers Briefing 1:00PM, followed by 3 lap carby+4 minute time trials. Then straight into Heat 1.
Sunday, Drivers Briefing 7:45AM, then resume racing.
I've had a couple of drivers email me, wanting to know "What if I can't physically get to the track on Saturday?". My proposal is that drivers must to start one Heat to qualify for Series points for the round.
