Does anyone know when it will be legal for these new radiators to be used? I have noticed them in the parts list on the Rotax Australia website and have heard some engines have arrived with them.
Are we just waiting on the AKA to rubber stamp them even though they are standard on the 2011 engine?

A mate of mine spoke to IKD today about the release date of the 2011 stamped donk. He was told mid year or slightly after.
Going on this he has ordered the 2010 stamped donk as of today.
Wonder if IKD has got some sort of pre-approval from AKA or maybe that is the reason for the mid year hold up explained???
how much are they?
Is it just me or does rotax try to add some small change every year which then incurs a big cost to everyone else.. From what i remember a new radiator is around $400..
AKA will just about approve anything that means you have to fork out ..you watch ...
you don't HAVE to buy one...
Using them in NZ since start of the year
true, but if your racing competitively you are looking for that last tenth and the person beating you has one on...
Out comes the unnecessary $400!

its a radiator, If your temps are ok how can it make you go faster?
We are going into winter so for at least the next 6 months most people will be taping their's up.
Yeah Willy, but that perspex is a great place to put a JETPILOT or MY FAMILY stickers on it.

What Rules ???
According to the Oz Rotax Rules - http://www.karting.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/FORMULA-ROTAX-...
"RMAX 1.21 Radiator 1. Genuine single aluminium radiator as shown in illustration 5."
So only the original push and quarter turn cap radiator is allowed in AKA karting
Screw on black plastic caps / radiators are not allowed ...
Why bother with Rules ???
Which Rules do we need to comply with ??? And which Rules don't we need to worry with ???
Gee this started out as a simple topic I thought these new style Radiators are the same price as the previous model 167pounds from the UK plus frieght which is roughly $260.00 Aussie dollars just thought if one was to damage a radiator when would you be able to use the new type.
