Hi Paul
I would like to know how most people deal with the different wieght of each driver do they just bolt on lead at each pit stop? Is there a maximum kart wieght because two of the drivers we have a big difference in body wieght ? Are you allowed to camp at the track? If not where is a good spot to stay?
Thanks
Peter
Hi Peter thanks for the questions.
1. we run the usual weight divisions for each class 160kg for lights 180kg for heavy. we have drive on drive off scales situated at pit entry each driver is required to stop and weigh at the scales EVRYTIME they leave the circuit during the race. This means teams have to be relatively close to each other in weight. some teams have to carry weight for one driver but not the other[ meaning the heavier driver is over the class weight] We also allow in this sitiation teams to operate a quick release system [ approoved by the raceway inspection] where weights can be added/removed when needed, some teams operate this system quite well and does not impact in lost time in the pits, most team if the weight difference is less than 5kgs do not worry about such a system. Weight maybe an issue in sprint racing but enduros its not quite important as the lap times are usualy1-1.5 sec off sprint times because drivers have to do about 80 laps stints so pace themselves accordingly. We have a team that has had more podiums and has won their div more than any other who starts last every year and runs over 200kgs with one of their drivers, its more about strategy, reliability, than outright pace. Ideally it would be good to have two drivers of similar weight but its NOT critical, unless the weight difference is so big that requires a seat insert for the lighter driver as then you may have a setup issue.
2. we do not operate a max kart weight. as long as the kart weighs at the scales above it classs weight.
3. yes we allow camping at the track, there is a shower and toilet, limited power but extensions cords can help,
if you want any more details let me know your e-mail address and can send regs/entry form. Entries are to close monday the 31st, if this is a problem let me know and we can work something out.
