Hi
I bought a brand new S motor last year. have done 5 race meets with it since it was blueprinted (by a reputable engine builder) and it was dyno'd.
I have the dyno sheet here. Is this a reasonable engine? It seems to pull real well down low on tight track. Im tall and in supers.
Dyno sheet is attached. I had brand new red clutch fitted at the same time.
I see some on ebay claiming over 17 hp but its hard cos u dont know what your really getting.
Cheers
Deano.

Dean,
I've had an engine pull 16.4 and it is a rocket, also had a 17.3hp motor that was ok. It depends on the dyno and also the motor itself. Your graph looks Ok but I question the 405 exhaust length?
yeah, and i reckon a motor dyno'd after a few race meets would have more power than a tight one and one thats had some development. I have a "cheap" motor that pulls even more but is close to end of its bore life, but that engine, everyone says is a weapon. But never had that one in a dyno or shop. Certainly dyno's are all different cos some of these blokes go to dyno shootouts with cars and there can be 100hp difference. I think it depends on the application, i need torque for supers but lights might be better with better top end.

What is the one you have for sale?
dean,
i dont know what my clubbies make on the dyno and i dont care what they make. with my jays i have 2 engines that are built by 2 different engine builders, one has over 11 and the other has 10.5 but the later goes heaps harder and i had a mate with a so called 12 hp jay and it only went as good as one of my other 10 hp engines so dyno figures arnt that reliable. just out of interest who's dyno was it?
I would not stress to much about it. I know little about kart engines on dyno,s but know a bit about car dyno,s. If it is the same sort of thing you can greatly alter hp output figures with strapping the vehicle down, tyre pressures, engine temps, weather etc and every dyno will read differently and some by a LOT.
Its a Baron motor.
