Okay, so unless I'm mistaken there is 15 green plates currently represented on this discussion (and it hurts to admit that none of them are mine) - so start asking questions people!!
hi troy,
i would be really interested to know your thoughts on tyre pressures for club light/heavy moving through a meeting. eg qualifying, heats to final.
for example would you suggest running a specific pressure and setting the kart up around that pressure or the other way round where you would tune the kart through the pressure once you have set the kart up specifically for that race.
any info at all relating to pressures would be greatly appreciated
cheers
Hi Toby,
For clubman i would run around 12psi as a starting point. I use tyre pressures just to tune the kart. eg. If the kart takes to long to come on just raise the pressure by one psi. If it just goes of a little you maybe able to lower the pressure.
Its important to check your tyre pressure both hot and cold. By doing this you will work out at which hot pressure you feel the kart is most comfortable, than set your tyre pressure to acheive the most comfortable tyre pressure hot for you. Normally i would look for around 2psi rise. If it rises more than this normally you are too high in the pressure.
Cheers

Hi Jace,
Yes i am the head instructor for Topgun Driver Training i also have other instructors that work with me. Those two topics you talk about passing and qualifying are just as much a physchological thing as there are a natural skill. My best advice to qualifying is pretend its practice. Try not to pass and drive as fast as you can with 100% concentration. Reality qualifying is exactly the same as practice although someone else is also recording your times.
With passing you must be positive. No such thing as maybe i will pass. You either decide your passing or your not. And the key is never go right past the other driver, just pull it up alongside them which will stop the switchback.
Hope this is of some help. If you would like more details feel free to contact me 0438 664 626 or you can go to www.topgunracing.com

hi i've just moved to seniors and racing rotax light.
i'm a little confused with these mojo's. Does anyone have tyre pressure info with reasoning behide why that pressure??
because everyone i've ask has said a number and when i've ask why they just say bcause thats what the other guy said.
if someone could point me in the right area would be a great help. thanks.
I am finding 9 to 10psi for Rotax Light. 11 to 12psi for Rotax Heavy. Any lower than these presssures for each class i find it creates alot of bounce as the tyre rolls over too much. This is why with the heavier weight classes i run a little higher as they tend to generate more tyre roll. If you go to high on the Mojo you will know because it will feel good to drive for the first half of the race than you will find it will get rather slippery.
Hope this helps.

does anyone no of a website where there is a rotax jetting chart?? other than the dpe one.
i'm looking for a chart that uses humidity, barometric pressure and temperature.
the dpe chart only uses barometric pressure and temperature.
