Was Richie McLeod for me.. Watching him drive around Lismore Kart track before he headed off to Europe made a big impression on me. Pity his return to aus was often hampered by inferior equipment.
So who amazed you when you started racing?

My dad had a mate who was an absolute demon in hire karts.... almost always a full second quicker than anyone else on a 24s long lap. I still look up to him....
AG - what was it about Richie? I haven't ever heard his name... how long ago was that?

I remember "back it in" Richie. He certainly was a gun. Darrell Smith is one of the guys I remember most from early on. He was the first "mainlander" racer I'd seen race and watching him scando a 135cc around the Devonport Street race as fast as 200cc Supers in the late 80's early 90's was something that just made me think wow how good is this guy! I thought I had reasonable kart control but this guy was on another planet.
Probably Neil McFadden, and as a midget watching Andrew Thompson carve up in Junior Clubman every meeting was pretty cool too!
coming from NZ the standerd of racing was crazy so nearly everyone was a good driver...probs for me was you (AG) mate....also wally was pretty mad and Bart, racing Bart this year was awesome because ive always looked up to him and I respect him alot...but hey AG ive still got to race you and wally ayy ;)

Foe me it was Micheal Caruso.. I used to go to the fence and watch him in jc when i was running senior natioal light at eastern creek, he was super impressive..
Also Mark Winterbottom, he impressed me so much, i brought a kosmic of him back in the day when he had the shop in western syd..
For me Ben ( Mully ) Horstman, Adam Clarke, Jt, and for all old school guys my favourite driver from Europe Mannetti
Leigh Nicolaou and Nick Lacey were the two who stood out for me when I first started.
Nick was racing JNL & JC at Todd rd when I first joined, and Leigh won the JNL nationals that year =)
for me Jeremy Lohmann and Jason domoshenz both were awesome drivers in the 90's
David Clark and Ryan Wlodzinski back in the formula A days
The 2 Ritter boys for me, they were awesome!!
