Hi guys, can you tell me if there is going to be a field of Stock Hondas for the final round of the Australian Superkart Championships at Phillip Island.
There are 4x Stock Honda Spec karts going to Phillip Island. #76 Mike Wayne # 5 Paul Degan #90 Mark Vickers #19 Tracey Crawford
Mark Vickers finished 2nd at Eastern Creek State Titles outright in 125GB using his Stock Honda last weekend, weighing to 125GB class specs. Mark Vickers currently running 2nd outright in NSW Superkart Club 125GB championship using his Stock Honda, weighing to 125GB class specs. How embarresment for the others...... :D
To be fair Sam, the RS125's may have more horsePWR than the "stock" CR & the Stock Honda does not have the aerodynamic body kit or laydown seat position or quick shifting electronics, not to mention that Mr Vickers can pedal, I guess the reliability allows good drivers to finish every race! My point is .........??? Well my point is...... ???I don't remember what my point is but God Damn what a GREAT package & even though they may not be at the pointy end at PI keep an eye on the exciting racing between #'s 76,90,19 & 5. ;D ;D
Stewy, At times they can still hold their own......even as a Stock Honda spec ;) At Eastern Creek
Why they were out at Nationals was a joke.
Hi Mal Crosher, They are entitled to enter as 125 Gearbox karts, just like your KZ2. Every driver has a CAMS license and qualifed, too bad you missed out on the fun........yet again. 4-5 years on this forum and I have not seen you at a single Superkart meeting. Enjoy racing around your clothes line. ;D
I have to say, if these were allowed to have the same rules as current NGB karts (nose cone, freedom of chassis etc) I would be more keen on the idea. But lets see how the series develops!
Conrod: Your opinions might be respected a little more if you construted you sentences in a civil manner. I agree there was a significant difference between the stock Hondas and the rest of the field. Whether they should be on the track at the same time as 250's...I think the same debate has been done to death with the state rounds that combine 125NGB and 250's. Has there been an accident yet because of the speed difference between NGB and 250's? Not that I know of.... Look at the FIA GT series & LeMans too if you want an example of how different classes co-exist.
If the Stock Honda class keeps growing the way it is, it will give new guys (& girls!) to the sport an maintenance free, even playing field gearbox class. Goss is you do have to check whell nuts though, so there is a little maintenance :D
Gloves Off Hey boys >:( Who the F*#K do you think you are Conrad getting all racial & slinging crap from the safety of your keyboard, I would ask you who is makin' all the money? 'cause if your insinuating "the wog", your words not mine, he has spent so much unpaid time on my kart that I am so grateful for & he is doing for the sport! What can you do for the sport? try to gain the support of other narrow minded people & quit? PLEASE go ahead break a leg!. (sorry J.) Also if you are not all hot air how about some proof because I've seen more interest in stock Honda than any other class on the big track as not all of us can afford to run 250's or high maintenance 125cc engines. So just where is all your negativity comming from? is it personal? I am open to negative arguments if they can be backed up with facts not childish slander >:( >:( Ok Mike you can move it now...or wait for Sammy to have a chance to defend himself
PS there is one warning i must give about the stock honda, you may need to bring a good book or a deck of cards in between race's :D hey PIL!
Mores the pitty CC and dry isn't allowed though. ;D ;D
The 4 current runners have agreed they would like a nose cone as per Superkart Rotax Max rules and have agreed to have only 1 style allowed to stop any variants and mystery that 1 guy goes faster than another because of their specific/custom style of nose cone (more expense).
Over the summer, a nose cone style will be identified (which everyone in class likes/agrees) so that will be one and only style to use in Stock Honda. Cost for the nose cone purchase will be kept to absolute minimum with any profit in manufacture/sale directed to the home Superkart club(s).
So option will be either the CIK plastic nose or the new spec fibreglass front nose to be determined.
Early days yet, just gotta get back to sipping my cocktails on my beachfront resort with all this money I'm making in Stock Honda.
From what I know, there are 2 common styles. These 2: I think it is $330 This once I believe is $299
Both from IWT.
I think the nose will be enough to make the class look like a superkart. I know I would be interested (if I didn't just get a rotax superkart :S), It would be a great stepping stone to 250cc GB
I know you've seen this pic Rotax#27 & I never did find out if they are commercially available but I do like this style although it doesn't cover the driver as much as the bubble. What do you guys think? Love to know Mr Vickers thoughts as he has driven both.
Stop being a tight ass and start shouting all your mates some cocktails. With all this money that you are making out of stock honda you must be loaded.
How embarrisingly slow that's about the truth. Why they were out at Nationals was a joke.
Are you aware that out of 18 125's entered in the nats, a stock Honda finished 8th...? Yes there is a huge speed diff. to the top guys but not to the last 1/4. Are you going to ring up Phill Silcock or others and inform them they have no business being out there.....? And by your argument, all 250int. drivers would feel 125's had no business being out together with their speed diff. In a perfect world we would all be in seperate races so with extra numbers on the track (due to people like Sam) this can become a reality sooner than later. The hate is getting no one no where and as they say....arguing with idiots brings you down to their level, then they beat you with experience. BTW. Exactly half of the people who have raced stock Hondas in the last year (club and national) are current 250int. owner drivers. FWIW. Peace out Pil
Next it will be full floor tray wings and yammy cyl , and the removal of stock out of stock honda !!!!
No Just a "Sexy", practical Nosecone please!
I've spoken to Rotax27 about the Orange one in the pic, sounds good at $290 + $50 delivery interstate.
The Stock honda guys are wanting 1 piece nose/nassau with something that covers the front wheels as much as possible. Just gathering the info to give to the guys and gal in the class who will then make the final decesion.
If anyone has any feedback on the nosecone topic for Stock Honda, please provide constructive input.
We want the class to only have 2 options when using a nose cone. Option 1) Any CIK plastic sprint nose together with CIK plastic Nassau or Option 2) The nosecone that gets the go ahead.
Either option will be allowed, nothing else accepted if racing for any 'Stock Honda' points or prizes.

Sam, Trace, Pil, Stewy and Mark im happy to go with whatever nosecone you all prefer ...
In my opinion, the karts will just look the same as a Rotax class kart, makes it hard for the public or potential new stock honda owner to work out whats what on the track ...
We should do something a little different that makes them look nice/modern and easily identifiable to the average joe watching ...
I like the look of the British open 125 karts, the same as a 250 kart just no wing OR atleast a Anderson nosecone and bubble like what Cookie mentioned ... There is a few guys with these moulds in Aus so supply would not be a issue ...
Either way ill support what ever you guys want to do :)
What price are the PVP and anderson noses? Surely they are a bit too much for what you are looking for? I would recommend the Viper/Scorpion nose cones, they look nice and aren't too much.
Next time I think about updating, I'll be trying to get into this, even if i'm the only one in the state :D
Not that I have a invested stake in this class but my opinion is that the trimworld nose looks the best and probably has the least drag but ultimately, leave them as Stock Honda's with plastic nose.
Hi Scott, My Stock Honda proposal was to keep the CIK plastics as they do in USA, however all current drivers are asking for a "Superkart look" controlled nose, preferebly 1 piece with Nassau. Something about looking like a superkart and the wind hurting their necks..........I would now say they are pussies or girls however I need to be mindful that Tracey is a girl. :-*
So anyway in search of a nose cone, still waiting for more info on the Viper nose from SA before putting the options to the drivers for 2012.........whom should all be at Wakefield this Sunday.
Hi Scott, My Stock Honda proposal was to keep the CIK plastics as they do in USA,
You should stick to it , I may be wrong but the max ng started that way , now we have purpose built karts nose cones and schedule G fuel instead of from the bowser of a local servo. It's a slippery slop if you want to keep any credibility for the class leave it as it is.
Gavin we learnt with the Max and made them the same bodywork regs as the 100cc NGB. When the 100cc class first started people kept on pushing the bodywork until we had full bodies costing thousands of dollars. So we had to jump on them and pull it back to the restricted bodywork we have now. If the stock Honda's want nosecones make them all the same to stop all the problems starting.
Before rushing into anything would it be a good idea for one or two guys to test the performance of a "superkart" nose vs stock plastics. If overall performances are similar surely it would make sense to leave it at CIK plastics as the attractive thing about stock honda is the simplicity and lower costs.
In my opinion CIK plastics nearly always look organised and tidy which is a better image than some of the poorly mounted, unevenly mounted & poorly painted superkart noses I've seen (on my own kart once or twice too - always the result of hours & hours of work)
Don't know if those neck braces would help anyone getting knocked around by the wind?
I do realise my opinion on this matter counts for zero.
This is a great point ,as are all, worth more than zero thanks . I will be taking all into consideration before squarking my final view.
Actually BR8, you're right.......lets see the performance diff. No point spending money if there is nothing to gain other than looks and as Shorty (Owen) correctly pointed out last night, we superkarters are the only ones that see the diff. between super and sprint karts. I won't enjoy re-fibreglassing the cone after I bang Stewy out of the way while on my way to the intergalactic Stock Honda title (again). I think we should go to the pub over 30 schooners and thrash it out. BTW. All comments from all quarters are welcome. You never know some of you might have one some day soon.
In the first year of Rotax Max l bolted a superkart nose on and we kept my brothers kart with the sprint body work. We ran the whole meeting against each other with these 2 set ups, with the sprint set up my brother could pull out of my slipstream and get alongside me but thats as far as he could go. Back in the 100 days l ran sprint body work for 1 meeting and found the same thing would happen. You could pull out of a slipstream but you couldn't finish off the pass. I don't think the stock honda guys are looking for performance gains, they just want looks. If they do go for a superkart nose it has to be a 1 make spec. lve witnessed 2 so called control classes in the 100's and rotax quickly get out of control with body work
I specified CIK plastics in Stock Honda because first you must obtain a CIK shifter kart and they have the plastics already fitted to them. That how it is in USA and works well.
The nose was bought up because some said "We need to look like Superkarts" and not a Go-Kart.
From experience over the years, I've see (and even done) that if a kart has plastic nose, the driver is more likely to be invovlved in a bit a biffing and bargeing. If a driver has a fibreglass nose, they are more likely to drive with a little more respect knowing it would need repairing instead of cleaning.
Pro's and Con's for either, one thing forsure, if fiberglass nose is optioned it will be a SPEC nose. Stock Honda will not go down the path of this design is better than that design that I saw in 100NGB and 125Max mainly in the early days...eg Dale Harris nose vs Bull nose vs Lennox nose vs Hyper nose vs Shark nose etc etc etc.
hang on a sec, yes I am guilty of mentioning the "look" of the kart but my main reasoning is the performance & as Steve example explains if you've got to the stage of a passing move it would be nice to not have it killed by a huge wall of wind out of the slipstream. Alocally produced ;),practical/performance based 8), sexy looking :-* nose cone! there all covered
