The Cluman Classes should be running the MG white wet the AKA should think about considering this for 2010. The Dunlop KT6SLW1 is what Clubmans are curently useing which is the same as what the midgets are running???????? what the hell!! The dunlop wet should only be used for J's and Commers.

YES! MG WHITES FOR CLUBMAN
OH YES PLEASE!!!!!!
the dunlops are only good, until their groove edges become rounded( which happens within the 1st few laps). after that its pretty useless...
Absolutly not! I've just spent today at Newcastle watching the CIK and rotax pro series and qualy was held this morning in pretty miserable wet conditions and even the JMA guys were chewing out there mg white tyres after the 1st session.
By the end of qualy 2 they were stuffed. just about throw-away. and at, i think i was told, $280 per set... FORGET IT.
They were that ordinary, that they even had a new set for practice yesterday arvo that got shredded after 2 sessions so they had no choice but to put another new set on today. Lucky for everyone that it fined up enough by the start of the heats so they could put dry tyres on
everyone i spoke to had between 8-12 PSI and they were as soft as butter...
ok, soft wets = faster times but if everyones on the same tyre everyones going the same speed arn't they?
Tyres don't last forever, thats obvious, but they have to be durable enough to last more than 1 race meet...
If you wanna change to a different make of wet fine, just make sure it will last at least a full race weekend, if not 2!
Remember racing in the wet on slicks? 50PSI and 10mm toe out... that was real fun!
arnt they running the new mojo wets this weekend??
I can't say i saw any...
yes they are.. your mistake adrian.
The wets in use at newcastle (for the rotax classes atleast, im not sure about KF2) are the Mojo wet...
They are about $280 a set like you said (MG whites are $250) and they are very fast, becasue they are very soft.. and yes they supposedly do wear out as fast as your saying...
The MG white actually lasts pretty damn well considering the grip they are able to generate.
I think it would be an awsome tyre for the clubman wet.
Low grip SL slick and wet for Js... mid grip slick and wet for clubman (MG Red and white) and high grip tyres for rotax and leopard classes... seems to make alot more sense!
Oh and yeh, the recommended pressure on the wrapper of the Mojo wet is 8.6psi and most seem to run somewhere between 8 and 12psi.
The MG white normally runs about 18psi, but varies between 16-22 depending on conditions.
i think every1 should learn to drive on slicks in wet weather & stop throwing money away, my 2c
Insurance stopped that. Imagine the field day in court if someone got really badly hurt and the AKA could be proven negligent in the fact that they did not mandate a wet tyre.

Its not mandatory though, is it?

You are all forgetting the fact that the wet tyre tender is not up yet.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the current wet tyre for Clubman. Everyone is on the same tyre, so it's not like you are disadvantaged, and it really rewards set-up and driver ability.
yeh, wats wrong with how it is now?
If it aint broken, don't fix it
