if the rear is at 1400 n front on narrowest setting but still gettin oversteer without throwin heaps more neg camber what way do u move the seat back or up?? for more grip
A problem that I got sucked into was mistaking too much grip for too little so we kept piling it on and the problem only got worse. We only realised what we were doing wrong after the kart was sold... Might be worth going the opposite way in terms of setup and see if that helps.
Set the seat to the recomended position and work on a set up from there.
Is the kart in question the one in your pics?
If so I assume your clubman light, and using MG Reds.
Ensure your seat is in the position listed HERE for MG Reds.
Standard DPE medium axle, set the front end up with 1mm positive and 1mm toe out per side, and assuming your using the standard alloy rims (or ones with the same offset) run 20mm spacing inside the front wheels. Set the rear track at 1380mm, which is 230mm measured from outer bearing carrier face to the outer hub face.
No torsion bars installed, and all crash bars, sidepod bars, seats ect ect tight.
Slam 14psi in the tyers to start of with and get out there and go round and round and learn to drive that thing smoothly to prevent the rear being flicked out!
Also, you will very rarely, if ever, need to run an MG red tyerd kart at 1400mm, and if your lacking rear grip, you realy dont want to be moving that seat further forward!!
EDIT: Fixed link to the correct chassis!
no wasnt mine, mine is spot on, was mates kz2 on the weekend, italian chassis hes only short n said he was suffering from oversteer all weekend i thought his seat was wrong
Surely he should narrow up the rear end? He's short and it's sliding everywhere... bring it in to get more bite.
KZ2 suffering from oversteer? never!
What tyers he running? 1400 is way wide. Run crazy long rear hubs, and move that seat back (deffs not forward) to get some drive of the corner. He will also find with the fronts all the way in it will probaby push its arse off (once youv found some rear grip) so youll need to put them back to a more standard setting.
Could be suffering from oversteer aswell from the way your driving the kart KZ2 you need to drive as straight as possible to get the power to the ground. Make sure your not driving it like a clubman or J or any other kart you have driven before. You have a shifter so drive it like one. you have that much power that doing a big sweeping arc will make you loose traction and slide.
You drive in straight lines you oversteer will be gone.
runnin the dunlop opens. but col if hes short n the seat was set up same as fellow teammates seat n the teammate is quite a bit taller wouldnt that give him a completely different slip angle i will question if he tried narrower rear end and shorter bubs,
longer hubs i meant.
just spoke to him, yes he tried longer hubs n he now has rear at 1390 but he did move the seat angle a little bit as it was too layed back n testing today he picked up 7/10ths
