I was shocked to see it happen before my eyes, then watching it on utube in slo mo really brought it home....
Any time i talked to any one about Moto gp i always would mention how much i loved Simoncelli and his notorious ways....how he made the other riders nervous, how at the end of every race where something went wrong he would shrug his shoulders as if to say "what do you want me to do? im racing!"
a true underdog who just gritted his teeth and went for it....
a lovable character who will be missed dearly.
Rest in peace Simoncelli.....

Such a loss.... much too young, as soon as the race was cancelled I feared the worst. Such a horrific crash i couldnt believe it as it happened.
He will be missed I always enjoyed watching him race, Always went his hardest
RIP Marco
Absolute tragedy. I can't begin to imagine how Rossi and Edwards are feeling right now. No, it's not their fault but having that incident replaying over and over in your head can't be healthy. RIP Marco.

I think Rossi's bike made the fatal blow to Simoncelli and seeing Rossi's reaction immediately after the impact (even before regathering his bike), Marco's helmet rolling down the track ,and Rossi's reaction again after rejoining the track. Also Edward's reaction of just staying at the bikes, I was fairly certain of the out come from that moment.
There was nothing any of them could do to avoid the incident once it was set in motion, as you really don’t expect a bike to come back like that from the outside of the corner.
Such a big shock these days in racing, as it’s just something that we don’t expect to happen, despite the speeds, then to have 3 deaths in 2 weekends at the top level of world motor sport, it is horrific.
It will be very hard for the Moto GP world, at the next, and last round for this year.
Thought go out to all of their families and friends.
R.I.P. Marco
R.I.P Marco Simoncelli
Great video Mal, brought a tear to my eye.....

you can see he always had guts, the translation is in spanish, he talks about how racing those days for the championship felt exactly the way he felt racing for the championship in the 250s at the time, also he takes the piss out of dovicioso for crying when he would lose....
Â
i knew straight away..... when i saw the helmet rolling on the grass, i could only think about the force required to rip the strap off...
i saw the replay on u tube quite a few times and it seems to me that Rossi dosn't actually touch him, Edwards bike smacks Rossis and it looks like he (rossi) hits the helmet once its off, the bikes then seem to come up together and you see simoncellis head impact the bitumen, truly horrific to watch. Also made me cring to simoncellis bike smack Edwards helmet on the way up as he (edwards) was coming down
either way they would both be devistated.
watching tomizawa's accident live last year really shocked me too, but David put it well that once the events were set in motion there was nothing anyone could do , it all happened at the 140kph mark so a split second.
i like to remember his reaction to Lorenzos " in the future i will have a problem" remark
"I will be arrest..."

I will miss watching him race.....

I thought this to when I first seen it in real time. But after watching the replay I realised how far over the wheels of the bikes were.
I am still in shock that is has happened thou. If he had a slightly smaller gab back to Rossie and Edwards things might have been different. If Rossie was not so close to Edwards things may not have been so bad, but these are all what if's and it shows that things can happen and no one is exempt.Daniel Caballero said:

R.I.P Marco. He always went hard and was most defentialy an up and coming champion. As soon as Rossi sat up i knew it was all bad. I wonder if Rossi will Retire after Valiencia?
theres more to it than that if you watch the way he came back in on the corner he was already limp like he had passed out b4 he got collected. its very strange like hes almost side saddling the bike rolling inwards but i swear he wasnt even concious when they hit him
Â
RIP, i will miss that fro.

Unfortunately...it was Rossi who ran over his mates head.
maybe , hadn't seen this pic before now, looks that way though, hard to see detail...
ive only seen the images from the live replays... wonder if they got it from another angle.. has anyone seen any other footage?
Yeah I saw it live on one hd, and it was plain as day from the behind angle as well that it was Rossi That got his head and ripped his helmet off. A huge loss for MotoGP. My tip is that Rossi will retire, his worst season ever, his morale at an all time low and then this accident with his friend......
