I am getting massive bouncing around tight corners. I have no under or oversteer issues probably due to going way too slow due to the bouncing. High speed corners are sweet.
Is this mainly due to cog to high?? I understand front end set up will have and does have huge effects on everything but I need to start with the most probable cause then go from there. My seat is approx 20-22mm from ground and Im running around 1385 on rears and 20mm spaces on front, I did go to 1400 rear to test but same issue. I have been told I am jacking at rear about 40-70mm. Way too much??
I am 6ft, 95kg.new to sprint karts. From a 250nat background I struggle to comprehend the set up required for these things because one thing changes the dynamics on just about everthing.
Any asistance would be appreciated.

probably need to put the seat down a little, for a bloke your height, you'd almost want to drag it along the ground!

which class are you running?
lol coz he isnt vertically challenged
:P

Pete some more defined tech info will help eg kart axle etc, but your starting point sounds okay. Measure from the lip of the seat to the axle i would suggest for Tag heavy a measurement of 210mm - 220mm would be okay with your 20mm height. Make sure the axle is in the raised position this will help reduce the jacking a little and let the kart flow through the corner.
when I have this problem I go from one extreme to another on the rear hubs then change axle to the axle that the change indicated was better eg short hubs soft axle , and then go back to standard hubs.
I am sure you will have an abundance of info for you to try the next time you go out.
Good Luck.
Pete a reckon youv'e got the best name in karting.
Pete try a softer axle and see if this still happens and play with different hub lengths this may help or seat down a couple of mm?and set back a little.? I may be wrong but its worth a try. Hope it works.

Softer axle, shorter hubs, and seat 2sprocket height off ground,if no change go completley the other way, play around with tyre pressuers as well. Good Luck

Hi Pete
Bounce is usually caused by the rear of the kart been to soft. I would run seat stays tight, third bearing tight, harder axle, and tighten the rear crash bar bolts. If your kart has a rear ride height adjustment, I would raise the rear of the kart. I sugguest try one thing at a time.
Also you describe the kart is good through fast corners, which is telling me with little wheel input, the kart is ok. I would take some castor out of the front, it will settle down the initial jack and make the kart roll freer through the corner resulting in increased kart speed.
Cheers
I agree with hayesy, its most probably too soft in the rear and jacking way too much due to your height / body shape.
What everyone else is telling you is assuming you have way to much grip and its causing it to hop, which I doubt is the case.
Id deffinetely suggest keeping the seat stays ON, third bearing in... besically everything you can do to stiffen the rear without putting a hard axle in. Keep that as a last resort... maybe try a KG Black hard axle, they are 10mm shorter (assuming youv got a DPE kart?) and should help it to still come of the corners.
Personally im not a fan of raising the rear ride height... i think it dose weiirddddd things, but you can only try it!
My first thought though, when reading your post was as Hayes said, take some castor out of it... How much camber are you running? Try 2mm positive per side.
Your seat height of the ground sounds fine, but before anyone can tell you how far off the axle, what size seat is it, and what model kart?
Cheers.
Oh and also, one problem I hear alot with customers at work is "it bounces so much into the corner" and when you watch them drive its clear they are rushing into the corner too much. Granted this is a more common problem in Leopard with the MG Yellows, but still can happen with the Reds.
As you said you are going slow through the corners i guess this aint your problem though!!
