Supercheap series round 1 only two weeks away. 30 and 31 May at Willowbank raceway. Over $35000 in prizes on offer - mostly draw of hat. Sup regs at akaqld.asn.au
judging by how many people were at Willowbank practicing yesterday i'd say its gonna be big!!
Round 1 last weekend...... we had 126 nominations, and witnessed some of the best racing we have seen for years.....Clubman light was awesome (like days of old) as were all the other classes.....
We had good feedback on the format - 3 15km races, and only 7 classes..... I think the competitors liked doing something different.....Hopefully a series that will continue and grow in the future.
Round 2 - 21/6 at Gladstone...
John,
good to here it all went well. Are there any results posted yet and will it be going on mylaps?
yeah the results are up on mylaps now. it was an awesome meet heaps of good racing!!!
Hey guys and girls. I was out there on Sunday taking photos if you want to see what was taken go to rustycamera.smugmug.com and have a look. If your pic isn't there don't stress I haven't got them all up yet aas time permits I will add more. Email me with your details and I will have a look rustynail3@bigpond.com any feedback is most welcome.
How was the second round of the Qld Supercheap Series in Gladstone? Results anywhere?
Dale,
Absolutely awesome racing again in all classes. Only had about 100 noms, but we had all 7 classes running 3 X 21 lap heats, and got the racing finished by 3, presentations and prize draws by 4, and everyone on the road early. Will get the results on the AKAQ website in the next day or two.
Final is nearly upon us.
We have added formula 100 as a promo class for the final. 3 heats of 15 laps. Noms are $255 including a set of MG Yellows, and bar b dinner at the pub afterwards. If anyone is keen, i can probably arrange a loaner motor.
Hey guys,
With the series now run and won and all over, we are all thinking what do we do now?????
Congratulations to all of those winners of prizes and drive days. For those attending the drive day (20th September) please email me to confirm you will be there. - supercheapkartseries.com.au
Thanks to everyone (offiicials, competitors and all involved) for supporting this series and bringing a great spirit of competition to each round...... Some of the best race meetings I have ever been involved in.
Just got commitment from both Supercheap Auto and the Holden Driving Centre to sponsor the series for a second year.
The drivers who participated in the drive day last weekend had a ball......fair bit of rivalry between the guys as to who was going to be fastest in a car...... Ingall was awesome drifting at 120+ kph with three kids (midgets and rookies) in the car......very nervous mums.......
Next year format/dates/venues will be thrown around at the AGM next weekend but hopefully .....all will be bigger and better.......
We weren't directly involved in the series, but my son did compete at two rounds, including the final one at Warwick.
3 heats of racing in ONE day for 66 laps. And we were packed up by 4pm.
To run a state championship, you could expect 66 laps of racing + 2 x 4 minute qualifiers - over 3 days! and with an entry fee about 150% higher than this one dayer.
If ever there was proof positive that we have too many classes that we feel obliged to run on a club day, to keep all of our members satisfied, then this series has demonstrated that. On a club day, you would expect 40 laps.
Part of the discussion has to cover all series, for all classes, to give the best bang for the karters buck.

Well done John Lane and THANKS for your efforts !!!
