Hello,
Let me begin by saying that I have nothing against Australian Motorsport and watching the V8 super cars is one of my favourite pastimes. However I think that the sport has kinda gone down hill since the late 80s. Overtime we have slowly banished international car makes from our racing and in my opinion it was one of the worst things we could have done. Nevertheless rumours are beginning to spread of the introduction of Nissan and other car makes into our race series for 2013. Now this got me thinking.
Why not just merge our Motorsport with the international series known as the FIA series? Maybe not just kill off the V8 supercars that people already know and love so suddenly but make it a support class for the FIA, if they were to come here. Besides, watching FORD GT's, Lamborghini's etc etc HAS to be more entertaining than what we're currently watching doesn't it?

The Kellys are switching from Holden to Nissan with CotF. Expressions of interest from Chrysler too apparently. Suggest you read up on that.
I would love to see GT1 be the pinnacle of Motorsport in this country but if I remember correctly the reason why we have V8 Supercars is because Mick and Dave own Fords and Holdens and it's much easier to tap into the driveway rivalry much the same way that Mick barracks for Collingwood because he grew up there and Dave barracks for Essendon because his grandad lived his life there and naturally one wants to beat the other.

Actually we don't really have to get rid of V8 supercars. Most European countries have their own race series (DTM in Germany) as well as FIA GT1. So what gives? Our tracks not good enough?
Anyone point me in the dirrection on a news article about Nissan entering??
Yes Australia having a GT1 series hell yeah, but scrapping V8 Supercars for GT1 isn't the best call.
Many times have i heard people like yourself Ryan say that the sport went downhill since they switched to Ford VS Holden are missing the big picture - i'll put it in point form
- Reason the changed happened was because of international manufacturers and people were walking away from the sport
- after a few years V8 Supercars was rising in popularity
- 2001 to current the series has never been more popular more evident in the last 3 years it have reached international stage and have been regarded as the "BEST" touring car category thanks to the rivalry between Holden and Ford
What's it gonna be. If its not a skyline they are wasting their time.
In my opinion Formula One and Moto GP are the pinnacle of motorsport "in this country" and in the world.
Ever watch the older F1 car on a one lap dash at Albert Park against the roadcar and the taxi ?
The F1 driver was still having his breakfast when the taxi left the line.
BUT on the same track expect a 1,000cc Moto GP bike to have a higher TOP SPEED and faster LAPTIME than a F1 car.
Some expect 350kph from a 1,000cc Moto GP bike on a race circuit !!!
V8 supercars are also good entertainment! Michael Keith said:
