HI Greg yes many good outcomes.
It was once again raised that the transponder deadline is fast approaching. The price that the AKA had negotiated officially ends on the 7th of August I think it was and after that they will rise. Governance was again discussed with a fantastic flow chart produced to show the way it could all work. I will be presenting to the AKASA to gauge there thoughts. Many policies have been tidied up and discussed. Yes there was some in camera items. Trust me nothing earth shattering just some commercial in confidence work in progress. The TDF policy was updated and two new loans approved. The Exec have done a fantastic job of getting this in shape and setting new guidelines to ensure that the money is coming in in a timely manner, some clubs/states are even ahead of payment which is great as it allows more clubs to access the money that the karters have put there.
Regards,
Craig Denton

Mate if there where $95 bottles of champers then I didn't get any. Our meal allowance that we get does not even cover a meal and drink at night if we eat in the restaurant. Not complaining as it is a far sight better than the old days when everything was booked up to the AKA. Should write a book one day.

Good to hear governance got talked about.
Craig can you give a us a brief rundown on whats planned as SA might get the info, outsiders may have to wait too long ;-)
will it be a professional skilled board?
Why are the miniutes of these meetings avalible to the financiers? any club should be able to request this info directly from the AKA and not have to go thru their state office. It would seem to me that as it is now, It the states are in with the national, then they can act as a buffer making all of this infomation inaccessable. his would be one very simple step the aka could make what they are descussing and doing very trasnperent and show that everything is above board.
It does sound like things are moving in the right direction atleast.
Pete you are the exact reason why people do not reply to these forums. All I am trying to do is give you some info and I have t put up with crap like this. Not anymore.
Peter Edgar said:About the "Flow chart" on GOVERNANCE Craig.. Do you plan on doing any "Flowing" in the near future.. the general public is hanging out to get rid of you guys as soon as possible.. The sooner governance is bought in the closer we will get to having a professional sport run by skilled people instead of "volunteers" and gravy train drivers...
Sorry which minutes are you refering to.
They are public the only reason they are distributed through the States as the first instance is due to A1 in the rule book. From there they are available on the AKA web site and a good source of the info is the AKANSW web site.

John,
There ARE things that every organisation needs to deal with in confidence. While I am no fan of the AKA, I do understand that they will need to do this from time to time.
For example: Let's say they received a writ from a solicitor regarding a legal issue. Not only would it be inappropriate for this to be tabled in a publicly accountable session, it would also (a) not be in the best interests of the AKA / members and (b) it would expose the AKA to needless costs for yet another legal action.
I would be happy, however, if the minutes contained a simple explanation of the contents of the 'in camera' session, eg "In camera - legal writ from XXX solicitor regarding matter under juristiction of AKA"
While they have shown incredible aptitude for rorting the rules in the past, the rules are sometimes needed for the benefit of all
John Daly said:it was removed so we cant tell what was delt with properly and what was done (in camera)
Please replace (in camera) with shonky back door mates rates deals.
Sorry guys but until this IN CAMERA crap stops people will always think there is something funny going on.
Agreed, but by the same measure, surely you would not wish your fees (if you were an AKA member) to be wasted on avoidable legal action that may result if sensitive and confidential matters were made public?
Similarly and ENTIRELY hypothetically, say that the AKA received a letter from a parent alleging that an AKA official had molested their child. It would be neither fair or appropriate for the INITIAL stages of this matter to be discussed in a public fashion. Of course, were the charges to be proven, I would be the first to offer my services to castrate the bastard, but that is beside the point.
There is a time and place for everything John. As a person with legal experience, I'm sure you would appreciate that.
John Daly said:I see you point Mr Smith
But surley the drivers have the right to know whats happening and were there fees are being spent.
IE:- legal writ from XXX solicitor regarding matter under juristiction of AKA
I would want to know why this happened and how it happened
and holding that person accountable for it.
The drivers should not have to pay to bail some one out of the shite.. thay got in to it ...thay pay to get out of it.
