It appears we have a new CEO and its a outside the boys club circle which can only be good. Looks to have some good credentials as well being experienced in other forms of motorsport admin.
Maybe a positive step?

Seems pretty good creds. Lets hope all the past negatives can be put behind us and everyone on Kartbook can get behind the guy and give him a fair go so we all move forward in every way.
Good positive comment Mal- are you still shaping guitars? My Gibson sounds like shit and I cant believe its me!!! Need help.

Let's just hope Mr O'Reilly is his own man and makes decisions based on the membership base and growing it. Hopefully through the board he brings fresh ideas to the table and is not influenced by an predecessors. I wish him all the best and look forward to the results of the challenges he now faces.
Fantastic to hear , I think this is great for the sport and its future.. I just wonder how long it will take the usual shit canners to start up.. Hope it's a long time.

That's all we ask, that it be done properly and in accordance with the whole membership base, not a select influential groups. ted kelly said:

I think that there are a lot of people that dont truly understand the benefits of the new board
By way of design, personal agendas are far less relevant and ineffectual in skewing the boards position
This is the brightest Karting in Australia had looked - ever
Bring on Sept 1 !!!!!!

You're right. People like me aren't fully aware of what this changes. Can you shed some light? David Price said:

For 10 years the karting fraternity have attempted to make changes to the way the sport has been run at the national level.
In recent times the organization moved from an Incorporation to a Company Limited by Guarantee. There has been a transitional change over period and during that period of time AKA advertised to fill 5 board positions. As a result of that Melissa Holzberger (Administration), Mick Doohan (Competition) Philip Smith (Finance) Sam Moreton (Marketing) and Bradley Collins (Technical) were appointed. Mr Doohan was elected chairman of the board. The position of CEO was advertised recently and from that Mr O'Reilly has been appointed.
There is no doubt an announcement soon as to who the 3 invited board members are to be appointed as per R7 (The Board) 7.1.
The general consensus is that the above personnel will bring a level of professionalism to the running of our sport that it has not encountered in the past.
Although David makes a valid point in respect of board members, it is however yet to be seen how they perform and how much influence past executive will permeate through any decisions made by them. No matter who is on that board they are there to represent the membership base and make those decisions based on the best interests of the karters in general and not by virtue of an individual or commercial agenda driven interests.Â
At the end of the day Karting is a hobby or a past time to the majority of karters who just want to have fun racing without it costing them an arm and a leg.. Patrick Carter said:

I had some concerns when ll this started that this would end up just the same as before with the board being the same as the exec [ jobs for the boys] and given the time it took to get goverance in and the changes attempted my concerns were justified. However its good that the new board is just the NEW, no "old guard" no one will agendas etc, so thats positive so far, time will tell if it was a good move but all good so far.
Â
My next concern will be the REAL test of governance, and that is the make up of the various sub committees, IF we can get NEW faces onto these committees and make it a CLEAN change then it can only be good. shift the current "old guard" doewn to these committees will only be a backward step and only hold back the full potential of what a new board/committee could really do.
Â
I am with Nev on this as well, success will be detarmined on how well the board and sub committees seek out clubs/drivers thoughts on what they propose to do if they go into a closed shop situation it will be a bad thing.
Open and transparent is all the majority want. Paul Hewitt said:
