Mine has been awesome, only problem I've had is that it wasn't working at Picton for some
Reason, not sure if it has something to do with gps signal or something but every where else it's awesome.
Pretty much have to charge the battery before going out for the day.
Have you got this to work at Picton, i was thinking of getting a 5 my predominantly race at Picton. Chris said:

Received mine yesterday and having all sorts of dramas. Ā Finding little to no informationĀ or help on the net. Ā Highly recommend purchasing a power lead to connect to kart battery to overcome battery issues. Ā Cant see a way to download data if wifi signal fails ie mini usb cable etc. Ā Promised a lot at this stage yet to deliver.
Not loving ours yet.
More bugs than Windows 95
Over all im not impressed and in two minds about selling it if they dont come out with an update soon but willing to wait (not forever though) to see what comes out in the next update. But I'm feeling i should of got the Alfano
I read the brochure and it said it had customize-able displays but it only has one display that you cant change which has an RPM bar graph AND digital RPM guage.. why do you need half the display double representing data..?
Also the GPS doesnt inspire me with confidence as i prefer the consistent accuracy of a magnetic strip. Also im yet to work out how to plot the race lines via the GPS on race studio. Theres also a bug when looking back through the lap times if you have more than 3 sectors added.Ā
Positives are less wires, customize-able LEDs, back light, customize-able startup logo and the WiFi downloading is a win as i was able to download while at my desk while the kart was in the garage.
Overall about a 4/10
Got ours today.
Have significant it support.
Will let you know how we go after this weekend.
Three firmware updates made.
Wifi now seems more stable.
Can use both as AP and connect to another AP.
Seems like many changes need to be made thru race studio.
Practice yesterday.
Located track ok.
Data transfer to race studio worked well.
Have a little bit of work to be able to fully utilise race studio.
Happy so far.
I've just purchased one. It's on it's way. Have the updates improved it? How are people finding the gps in poor weather?
Personally I use the mychron 5 connected to an external battery (starter battery on X30) with the magnetic sensor for lap times. Used like this i've had no issues, the only let down is the lack of options/bugsĀ to customise the download folders and file namesĀ in Race Studio 3, but i've been assured they're working on that.
Using the magnetic sensor the Mychron still creates a map from the GPS but the best part is it creates sectors in the GPS track map where the magnetic strips are so its still possible to compare sectors with other people. It records splits from the strips so there is no problem with potential GPS drop outs. In theory you could create the map with the magnetic sensor then just use the GPS from then on and all your sectors will stillĀ correspondĀ with the strip positions.
Even better when doing roll around laps the mychron automatically disregards those extra strip counts as it knows where it is on the circuit so you don't get any of those false times AND it knows which strip to start on so all the data lines up when you go to analyse it!
They have now added some customisation for the data you see on the unit while in use. The one thing that bugs me a bit is theĀ inabilityĀ to download data without wifi, the best part about the usb key with mychron 4 was you could download data without even turning on the PC and look at it later.

I usually just whistle & it comes running.
