30 - 31 MAY 2009 COOTHA CLASSIC
The Historic Racing Car Club has organised the inaugural Cootha Classic is part of the Brisbane 150 Celebrations and will provide an opportunity for the residents of Brisbane to view the various forms of motorsport enjoyed by Queenslanders over the years.
Mt Coot-tha or One Tree Hill as it was known, has a history of competitive motorsport on its slopes. Records show that the first hill climb there was won by Boyd Edkins in April 1915.
As karting has been an integral part of motorsport in Qld for 50 years I have negotiated some space for a static display of some historic karts.
I have interest form a few members but could do with a few more. I am especially interested in karts from the 60’s and Australian equipment.
As it is a static display the karts do not have to be runners.
If you can help please contact Mike Best on 0418 738814 or mikebestprog@hotmail.com

The Historic kart static display at the Cootha Classic was quite successful with lots of old racers dropping by to share stories - and lies :-) ......!!!
BUT
a number of people approached me looking for info about starting karting. As I no longer race all I could do was point them at a website for info - I had managed to get the Ipswich Club website included in the program..
It may be of value for local clubs to look to events such as this to try and recruit new members. All it needs is a couple of karts and some fliers with contact details.
