Now let me start by saying I am not here to start a war...lol
But I moved to QLD a year and a half ago for work and love QLD and Brisbane wish I had done it years ago.....
But we have been racing go karts for 20 years first my husband and now my son since he was seven.... so we have done lots of laps and klm to race meets...
In NSW the usual race meet that we attended had at a min 3 heats and a final and the series had 3 heats , prefinal and final ..great value for money as entry was normally under $100 like Southern Zone.
Two day event with practise in the morning two heats on the Saturday and the remainder on the Sunday and left the track by 3pm.
One day club event was usually two heats, prefinal and final at large tracks the laps ranged from 8-12 ..
I have noticed in QLD that it ranges for a two day event the cost is around $100 which is fare..laps and heats... 2 heats and a final for a two day event with parctise in the morning and usually the same for a club day... Can anyone expalin why we don't seem to have as many laps .....

Explain...lol
The words "extra sunlight" make me die a little inside.
The facts are - in Summer, we have about 2-3 hours less daylight than in Victoria. If we went further south, and raced in Antartica for example, in summer we would have 24 hours of daylight at the peak of summer.
That aside, a lot of tracks have curfews - 8am carby, no noise after 5.
Then we get into the equation of track distance. A long track = less laps.
When we run a series, like Supercheap, some of the keen ones that follow the series will have an 8 hour drive home after, so that the kids can be back at school next day.
The supercheap concept - Qualifying on Saturday, and now one heat also on Saturday - 15 kilometres. Then on Sunday, two heats of 15 kilometres. 45 kilometres of racing, and on your way home by 4pm after trophies. Home by midnight, for the long distance travellers.
Consider a National Championship - 2 heats of 7 kilometres, a pre-final of 11 kilometres, and a final of 16 kilometres. 41 kilometres over 3 days. State championships, where there are 6 additional classes, often run less race kilometres to fit it in in 3 days.
If you are talking Southern Stars at Toowoomba last weekend, we have that curfew. Difficult to cover all the classes that the promotors are trying to fit in.
What I can assure you of is this, every club is trying to cater for the multiplicity of classes that karters choose to race, and are doing their very best to provide value for money for all of them.

No I reckon its because of the CANE TOAD! Have to cut racing short so the environmentalists dont have a cow if one is accidentally injured! Haha GO THE BLUES!!!
On a more serious note....Hmmm practice in the morning? What for? There are your missing heats right there!
Practice is reserved for days leading up to the event....not race day?
