What does everyone think about a "I raced karts" campaign?
The AKA could make up some decent sized stickers to put on race cars saying "I raced karts" and underneath "karting.net.au". Privateers would probably do this for free, while semi-pro/professional drivers would ask for a small fee. Would it hurt for the AKA to ask Winterbottom, Whincup and co? To put these stickers on their cars or painted on. They would probably have to pay, but it would be well worth it in my opinion.
NB - If this kicks off I claim the idea haha

I like it. good one
Great idea, Simple, Effective.
Agree with the above I thin k stuff like that is a good idea and I'm sure that teams would be open to the idea at perhaps a reduced cost since karting is the training ground for thier drivers.
This is a great Idea BUT, I think it would be more effective (if it was in the V8's on TV) to buy a large part of the sponsorship for 1 event and have say half the car or the roof or bonnet. That way a TV audence would get to see it, not just thoes in the pits looking closely at the cars.
Something like 888 done at townsville with their cammo cars.
If it was in other motor sport catogorys that dont get the air time then it would be aimed at spectators so smaller adverts over a longer time frame would work just fine.
Great Idea thou.
I thought that's why we pay a bloke 85K @ year to come up with simple ideas like this and promote our sport. After all I was told that he was selected as he was always going to be the best man for the job, and one of the reasons why, because he knows ALL the V8 drivers. Funny I must have got it wrong
Neville, there you go again making assumptions. The reason we pay the clown so much, is that he no doubt has a piece of paper that says he is an expert. Earl's idea could not possibly work, because it did not come from an overpaid 'expert'.
In order for these things to work, they need lengthy discussion at expensive restaurants, quaffing of chardonnay and usually ingestion of something that looks surprisingly like washing powder.
To do it any other way is just not done, lest it show up the clowns for who they really are.
GREAT IDEA EARL!!!!!!!

I am sure the AKA would have thought of this before. I am just a uni student and thought of this driving home. But the AKA must not be placing emphasis on getting new blood into the sport, otherwise they would have probably done something similar.
Unless someone has a few thousand dollars in their back pocket to do it themselves!
No assumption Steve, the National President told me in front of the State President Apparently that's why there was no need to advertise or tender for the position, because the fellow given the job 'was always going to be the best candidate'? because of the reasons I have relayed to you. By the way that fellows piece of paper says he is a journalist, no mention of being a qualified marketing or promotions manager from what I read.

Well Steve, instead of talking about it, get on with the idea. Until people have a go and get involved in doing something the sport will stagnate. Problem you will have gaining permissin to get the tickers on the cars from the relevant catergory. Again though, if our organization is paying someone to promote the sport, don't you agree it is their responsibility to come up with various campaigns to increase numbers? If you want your idea to go further then you should have it listed on your clubs next agenda, and pushed forward.
Great idea Steve, but unless ideas like this are a 'whole of karting' plan, we end up looking disorganised, incompetent and lacking direction. As this just about sums up the AKA, I guess we're back to square one.
Personally, I think the best way to grow the sport is to come up with a product that people would actually want to buy. Only then is it the right time to start promoting it, because if we were to get the opportunity for space on the V8SC fleet before we had a product to sell, the chances of getting a second chance are almost zero.

i originally typed something else here but i can not be bothered with the negativityanyone here have any design skills ?instead of waiting for the aka to do it, get something printed up ourselves
bumper stickers ? i did them once before for another sport roughly $1 each
great advertising spot, shame about the quality of the tracks through, i heard that he owns the race car too...

one of the fujitsu series v8 cars has go-karts-go or the like on the front
think its advertising a arrive and drive buisness that runs at a few tracks
Wonder if state governments would consider giving some funding for a kindof road safety cross promotion.
They spend hundrend of thousands if not millions on that stuff.
stickers/advetising like "I do my racing at the track" that kindof thing.
