Great to hear that the Canberra Club has finally ousted Otter from his perch.
Hope to see a resurgence in club numbers and the ridiculous fee structure changed back to affordability for all.
Best of Luck to the new committee.
We look forward to travelling back there and enjoying the good times again, I am sure that we are one of many that will return.

Mmmmm ...............sounds like there is some doubt in your words Kylie!!
Seems to have been the problem down there for some time, the members and the committee are not on the same page, but who runs the club???
Certainly on behalf of those karters and their associates that have been humiliated, ridiculed or suffered the just plain nastiness of the man (that it is not business as usual) and, that those people (so I am reliably told) carrying out the members wishes (so I am reliably told) are successful.
Am also told (reliably) that the government agency that is resposible for clubs down there has notified you!!
Wild rumour or Fact???
Truth or Dare!!!

Mmmm Don't believe everything you hear Fiona, news to me. Business as usual down here.
Interstate karters are always welcome to race at Canberra. I am interested though, on what you consider a ridiculous fee structure?
Hi all. Here are the facts. The ORS (office of regulatory services) has accepted the committee that was voted in at the no confidence meeting and registered it. The papers have been stamped and a call to the ORS today confirmed that they recognise the new committee as the current canberra kart club committee. This consists of Tom Nipperess, Robbie Bolton, Neil Allen, Jo Tilbrook, Drew Ward, Chris Reynolds and Brian Bloodworth. The Old committee of Bruce Otter, Kylie Otter, Tony Prendergast, Ian Watt and Robert Rosin have appealed the decission by the ORS. Now both parties will have meetings with the ORS during the next week to try to sort it out without going to court. As I said, the ORS made it clear today that the new committee is the one recognised by the ORS as the current one. The old committtee is just refusing to step down despite the majority of members wanting them to do so and despite the ORS not recognising them anymore. Thats where the whole thing stands as of today the 30/05/13. The members are looking forward the coming club revival. Watch this space!
Truth or Dare!!

Oh!! Kylie "Business as usual"" sounds like more of the same reason why you and the old committee are where you are today!!
And one would also ask the question where has the old committee members been when General meetings are held??
Are they not suppose to attend???
Now they decide they want to run the club!!!!
Agree only good can come from a new committee and new enthusiasm.
Best Wishes Tom Nipperess, Robbie Bolton, Neil Allen, Jo Tilbrook, Drew Ward, Chris Reynolds and Brian Bloodworth.in your endevours.
We need a ''like'' button badly!
I'm missing something........
All i can say about the Canberra club is that every time we have raced down there,
it has been a good and well run race meet.
As for race fees, come to the metro meetings and see who has got value for their buck.......
It's all easily fixed, have a extraordinary meeting call for a spill of all positions and have a vote. This time only those present can vote.
If the ousted/appealing committee thinks they have the support then there would be no problem at all. I'm sure the new, legal and current committee wouldn't mind taking the gamble, I'll be interested on what odds Tommy Whaterhouse would put on this.
I also would like to see the 71 odd people who sent in proxies turn up ( do they really exist, or are they just names plucked from the gungahlin cemetery during a well deserved lunch break)
Anyway a question often asked, and one that I have personally asked of current committee members, why would you stay when so many people don't appreciate what you are doing? Seems there may be other reasons to want to hang onto what is after all a social 'non profit' organisation.
My recommendation is join Grenfell

Eddie
What you speak of is exactly what happened!!!
Definantly when you are dealing with this person/people NOT easy!!
The members have voted and the committee elected and accepted by the ORS
Problem solved...................NO!!!
They have all the paperwork and documents in thier possession and wont allow the committee AS ELECTED by the members to conduct business on behalf of the club!!
As recently as yesterday they are still representing themselves (on the club website) as the "committee" despite notice from the ORS that the current committee is recognised.
All very confusing for the members and anyone wanting to do business with the club!!!
This brings about your question "why are they so intent on holding thier positions?" when it is obviuos the members have aired their wishes, only time will tell!!!!!
Your recommendation to join Grenfell, whilst probably a boon for that club, is very detrimental to the Canberra Club and only allows the current farcical situation to continue.
We would end up with a very exclusive club in our area, that segregates members (as has been seen) and is playing into these peoples hands, for what ever their agenda!!
The current and elected committee needs members to stand by the club and assist in their endevours to return the club to the members and a democratic society, with transperency in their activities and leadership!!
Lets only hope that the situation as it stands is rectified sooner rather later and the club doesnt lose more genuine members!
Can someone please explain what's been going on that required the old committee to be outed?
I (like many) have no idea what's been happening in Canberra.
Don't know what's happened but seems like the previous committee was bad enough to be thrown out from what I perceive as doing what's right for them and possibly their own business with no regard for the member majority.. What I wouldn't understand is why the thrown out committee would even want to contest the ORC decision knowing they weren't wanted by the majority. Kind of goes against doing what's right for karting in general.
Good luck to the new committee.

Anthony
Bad enough that the situation had to be brought about, but suffice to say there are certainly good reasons, as shown by the members actions.
A public forum is not the place to discuss the issues in detail.
