Re: The Grand Finale at Oran Park
The Grand Finale is as follows.
Saturday only
15 minute qualifier
3 by 5 lap races
1 by 8 lap race
Rolling starts are used. We split the field as all gearboxes to the front, in gearbox qualifying order. Maxes to the rear in qualifying order. The 2 lead maxes dictate the gap.
Entries close 6th December.
To make life as easy as possible for all, contact the NSW club, so we can check your race number for clashes, assist with accommodation etc.

I didn't see the format until just now on page 2 of the suppregs. Good thing I'm not driving.
The second question I asked as one can never tell if it will be rolling or not these days. What ever happened to a vote by the racers themselves for their start preferences!
Also do you need a AASA logbook or is a CAMS ok?
Can a AASA licence holder enter the kart and a CAMS driver drive?
Thank you for the answers Rotax 111, I'll be in touch if we are able to enter.

Re: The Grand Finale at Oran Park
answers to your questions are below....
1. Do you need a AASA logbook? the real answer is yes, BUT, you will still get through without it, and yes at this meeting as i've asked the promoter. For anyone out there though, if they run at AASA meetings, they will have to get a logbook. I've been telling our members since March, nearly all have done it, there will come a time when the AASA says enough though. The passbook is $20.00, I can email anyone the form if they want it.
2. Can a AASA licence holder enter the kart and a CAMS driver drive? YES, one suggestion though with the driver not the owner....add with the entry a slip of paper signed by the owner saying I ........give permission as the owner of kart .....for driver.....to race on date....event....Dont forget to sign. May not be asked for but saves time mucking around on a race day......it has been asked for at CAMS events.
3. Rolling or standing, ask the members what they want etc? All meetings in NSW are rolling starts, why?, to be honest, im unsure as I wasn't in charge around 18 mths ago when they came in. Off memory though, I believe we trialled them as Vic and S.A we're doing it. (could be wrong). The magority of NSW members liked it, I personally liked standing even though I drive a max as I got much better starts, im still trying to get it right but have got used to them. I can say though in my dealings with CAMS, they want them, why? there answer is there safer as we haven't had stalled karts off the line which they consider dangerous. CAMS have also told me, that they want it uniform, not rolling today, standing tomorrow, then back to rolling.
At CAMS event, the nsw max drivers find rolling a deathtrap into turn 1, as many gearbox karts are heavy on the brakes and max can't pull up. To cure this at AASA we've split the field, gearbox to the front, max to the rear. Even a did not qualify in a gearbox puts you at the rear of the gearbox field, not the total field. This has worked fantastic as the max aint racing a gearbox, the lead 2 maxes dictate the gap, approx 100m, and away.
AASA has much more flexibility in proceedings, you only need to explain with reasons and they listen. CAMS needs a novel and documentation. NSW should have the same set up as AASA from 2010 as CAMS have offered to come out to my place and write up the procedures together that will be the norm for NSW webmaster club events.
Hope this all helps
Cheers
