Well I had HIGH hope that governance was going to be a positive thing and from the initial steps ot looked ok, BUT WHAT I HAD FEARED for some time HAS HAPPENED. I had hoped we would see new blood and NO ONE FROM THE OLD GUARD anywhere near a board /committee position BUT ALAS it seems we have been dudded yet again and guess who the new director of operations is??????????????????

yes Mal, and also report of Have a chat also still in the mix. :-(
Paul how have you been made aware of this?
I have ways of finding things out lol and will not reveal my source lol
Yes I wondered as there is NO official announcement anywhere?Â
That worries me also.
Good luck boys, and now thanks to governence they have less connections (and accountability) to club level than before..     Â
Protection? If you mean "defended them from people making utterly unsubstantiated claims", then yes, I did. I'd do the same for you.
Don't know what that's got to do with this, or why my name should get brought into it.
Have I ever deleted a thread about the AKA political hierarchy? No.
Have I ever sat through irate phone calls from AKA officials who want things removed and don't like to hear it when I say "no"? Plenty of times.
Do I think it's a good thing if the new board employs the same old faces? Absolutely not.
Am I totally sick of you accusing me of colluding with the political element of this sport? You betcha. The person I am and the person you think I am are very, very different.
I see. So you get the shits with me when I share my opinion, and you criticise me when I stay silent.
Seems fair.
It does not surprise me that Col cops heaps for what put on this forum, and its typical of those who pressure him [ off the forum] as well. They would LOVE for this forum to close down and go away, but to Col's credit he has resisted such efforts he could easily say its not worth it and press the button to shut it down so we should really thank him or his job he is doing so well.
Â
He also appears to be concerned that the old guard is worming their way back in, something we have all been afraid of since Governanc was first mentioned all those years ago. Remember the first draft saw the old guard shut out completely, hence they spent ten years trying to water it all down so they could give the appearance governance was coming in but were in fact opening the loop holes to secure their seats, that was the fear and sadly it does appear that is whats happening to an extent.
Â
It also concerns me NSW adopted a governance type model for their state management and thats been a sh!t fight ever since and there is a real struggle going on right now in the backrooms.
Â
Starting to wonder like the old system that worked on paper but reality failed, governance maybe no better????
Â
But personally I think karting is in trouble, there has been too much fiocus on admin to notice that the grass roots is shrinking in the rural areas especially ie two clubs in m y area I suspect wont see out 2014. Sure the are both small and wont impact the balance sheet much but thats the thin edge of the wedge and karting will start to shrink inwards and by the time the impact is felt on the balance sheet its too late. the National body needs to strta looking at this NOW and not say its a state problem, if a club closes its a NATIONAL problem.
Â
so well done Col for keeping this forum running for karters.
Not the sport in general Mal, just AKA..   From where I am looking karting has never been in better shape!
Â
.
From my seat Tom my area is worrying times.
