Correspondence doing the rounds in NSW anyway reporting on the progress of governance.
SADLY VERY SADLY it seems they want the CURRENT crew to step into the board positions!!! for the first term.
NO mention of any attempt at getting what karters wanted in the beginning that is a SKILLED board, but now its jobs for the boys.
I know its the downtime in karting [ maybe thats why they have started this so no one notices?] but get to your clubs and get SKILLED ppl on the board, otherwise governance will be a sham, no change from present and wasted money and effort.
Like the Timing system Governance is a smoke screen, sounds good but wont do what it was intended to and will cost karting bigtime.
The SAME ppl who have gotten karting to its present dismal point will lead it into the future, given past results the future isn't pretty.

We ALL need to get together and sort out who we want in the positions at state level and vote them in, this will inturn start to fix the current issue. The leaders (if you could call them that) have got the karters bluffed at the moment, making them think that they are powerless to do anything. Well that is because as inderviduals we are powerless but the karters need to get together and work towards a common goal. If this is organised then things will happen.
there is no way i have the education to read all that Â
Â
does it say anything about fixing the issue to prevent further kart thief's Â
Â
its awesome knowing when ya sign in and ya get ya numbers logged
Â
but would be sad to see someone totally Innocent rock up to the track sign in
and there numbers match a recent stolen kart that they just brought
Â
is there a data base yet or anything like revs
Â
just wondering if i have missed it or hows the progress
Â
sorry if this has nothing to do with what has been posted up but it looked important
and thought it might fit in well here
Â
cheers
..................
good feeling to know all karting tracks ,racing , practise , dirt , superkarts , would do this number logging

Â
imagine the feeling bloke rocks up and starts practicing track says yep no worries

my flat burnt down avanti alarm clock , no wasnt insured , i hate to see some blokes hard work go down drain like mine , eg my first kart took me a year to save then took a year to drive it after saving for helmet etc etc
Just had a thought..........
Maybe having the 'old guard' on the new boad is EXACTLY what we need. Lets face it, as things stand the sport seems to be dying a slow death. Young heads can't see it, but older observers know it's like a tree...by the time you notice the problem, it's already too late to save.
If the 'oh so correct and accountable' governance model does come in, the entire Karting community (or at least those who give a damn) would be looking over their shoulder.
One wrong move and the new 'rules' will finally allow us the power to get rid of the fossils. And the irony is that the other fossils would be only too quick to help with the execution, lest theirs be the next head on the chopping block.
(example used to convey emotion only - NEVER any excuse to get physical with an official, no matter how bad they are)

I have already started the wheels in motion, and the more people that back up my actions, the louder the voice will be.
Lots of talk goes on. If people are unhappy with the current elected heads of our sport, then it is quite simple. Wright up a resumae listing why you would be good at what ever job you are prepaired to have a go at, what your vision of karting is and lobby all the clubs in your state (they are the voters) to vote for you and at the next election. You WILL be voted in IF the majority agree with you and think you will do a better job than those that are in the position now.
It is just stupid fighting with the elected state or national body, they have been elected quite simply and if you want them gone, offer a better alternitive for the voters. Realy Realy REALY SIMPLE.

For me what stands out is how convoluted the system and related processes are not necessarily problems with particular people. I believe change the system and the people and issues will fall into line. There just seems like there are too many levels of government within the sport to a point where its not Australian karting its more VIC, NSW, QLD, WA, TAS and NT karting which just complicates the issues. There are just too many cooks spoiling the broth and slowing the processes to a point where it stalls decision making too much and the Voters at club level shy away or feel distant from the decision making. This has the adverse effect of putting the decisions back in the hands of a small few at the top who aren’t benefiting from necessary input from the racers at ground level. Its a bit archaic and unecessary in 2011.

Happy Australia Day, I’m at work paying for the new Kart.
No David you simply wont be even if you have the majority support,!!!! prooven just 2 years ago when the president survived by a single vote the casting vote simply didn't want a QLDER to get the role so stayed with the encumbant, did that states deleagte instruct him to vote that way, because he is a qlder??
Â
its quite simple as prooven in 2005 by the majority of karters the system needs a major overhaul, and we see despite clear instruction to the NKC to get governance is as presented back in 2005 it still hasn't happened. many have just given up hope in trying to get the nat body to act responsibly, we still have a president that has a criminal record for a karting related crime!! and if the AKA was incorporated in say QLD he would have to stand down!!!! even those who keep pushing the A1 system will see it gets nowhere. Even when I started 13 years ago I was very pro AKA admin and defended their actions to the hilt saying the same things today "go to your club and have a vote" but it soon dawned on me that the syste, was /is broken, thats why I believe governance as proposed in 2005 [ skilled board] MUST come in.
Â
And as Matty says too many cooks are spoling the broth, and governance as proposed eliminated a whole level [ states] of beauracracy.

MATTY, I agree, Clubs should have direct access to the AKA.
PAUL. Beleave me when i say i am NOT defending anything that the AKA VKA or any other KA are doing.
Just a couple of quick questions for you
How do the state positions get filled???
How do the National positions get filled???
Who is responcable for the current group of leaders being in their positions???Matty Berridge said:

State positions??? get in good with the club delegates.
National positions???? get in good with the state delegates....and DO NOT threaten to change anything or take away any rights./privileges.....
Who is responsible for the current leaders?????  The current leaders...they vote for themselves.
This is what i thought, now go right back to the start. Club members vote for there committee members that then choose their deligates, correct?? That deligate is then instructed by the members or committee on how to vote???? So what needs to happen is that the club members need to get more involved at club level, about the descisions of the state. Find GOOD people that are prepared to take on the state positions, then edjucate all the clubs in the state as to why they should vote for that person.
If the clubs instruct their deligates who to vote for(and the do vote that way), then the right people will be put in a state level, Correct????? This is where it needs to start. Get the right people voted onto the club committee positions, then every member also needs to take ownership of karting state wide.
This is however just my oppinion, But after taking on a position on our club committee, I see that there needs to be more owner ship of the sport taken by ALL members.John Lane said:
