Hi All,
I am looking at the possibilities of organising a event to be held at Hidden Valley Raceway mid year 2015, about 1 week out from the V8 Supercar round.
It would be marketed as the 2015 World Superkart Challenge and I would encourage and offer a small travel fee to those from other countries that would like to take part.
Obviously a event of this nature, to do it correctly, costs a lot of dollars so I'd like to know first on here who would be keen to enter a event of this type and test there skills against some of the current worlds best from Europe/NZ/US ?
The rail system is ideal and very cost effective to transport karts and equipment.
Event would be run under a cams permit and Superkarts would be one of a few category's held over that race weekend, like our current national championship rounds.
I would predict entry fee's to be similar to that of what is on offer from the current National's promoter, however, if the event is planned correctly and professionally there could possibly be a kick back from there local government, if this is the case, whatever the amount may be, I would then divide this total amount by all entrants in way of a travel allowance refund.
Would love to get some feedback on this...

Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
As for class's, it will be open to all gearbox.
If I get a big enough response to approx numbers, then I will proceed and spend the time to make it happen.
Would need at least 35+ entries to make it feasible.
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
Hope you don't run into too much opposition.
;)

Send me an entry form ;)

Great idea of you can get it going Ant, I may cop a heap of abuse for this but if you wanted to get international guys to run and take it seriously you may want to restrict it to inters and nationals.
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
USA guys, there is only one guy there who can drive and has a license that will accommodate CAMS criteria, his first choice would be Phillip Island and second choice is Eastern Creek. Nothing else would lure him.
Just thought you should keep this in mind.
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
Entry numbers is what is critical for this to be a financially viable option, if I got only 20 karts on the grid it would be around a $20,000 loss. I'm hoping there would be atleast 35 karts on the grid. Hidden Valley is a great circuit.
I already know of 2 drivers from Europe that would be interested, I'd hope closer to the date I would be able to lure approx 5 over here.
Either way, I really think Australian Superkating needs a event like this, everyone getting togther at a new circuit to race hard all day, beers and a good feed to socialise at night, a place were the locals are super keen and enthusiastic to watch us race and have us there..
It's possible to put on a bloody good show and I'm willing to put my money were my mouth is to make it happen. I have the support of some very experienced people in the industry to make this a smooth pleasant well organised event.

Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
Your enthusiasm is infectious and I wish you the best in this venture.
Assuming that you can achieve a world class commitment from Aus, UK/Europe and get JR over from the US, I would bring a 250 Div 1 and a couple of Nationals (subject to domestic commitments), but we would need support of the financial variety!
Sam is of course right. The UK and European calendars won't be released until Jan/Feb 2015, so you won't get much commitment before that from any top European Runners
I would think along the lines of:
1. Swap drives
2. Chassis provision (so the competitors just ship motors)
3. Sales from parc ferme after the meeting.
Keep me in the loop.
What you have above is an initial expression of interest from Viper Racing UK
Best Regards
Ian :)

Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
I hope to make a announcement in the next few weeks with a rough outline on the event plan.
Feel free to contact me with any realistic requests, I want the basis of a event like this to be agreed upon by majority of the racers interested in entering, not just a promoter telling you how it's going to roll.
The biggest factors I am focussing on at the moment are minimal cost to the competitor (entry/transport), professional clean pit area/marque, more laps than our current format, TV option and driver pit name/kart detail boards, big BBQ dinner at the track for competitors/crew and most importantly filling the grid that includes drivers from overseas we would never have the chance to race against locally. We have some great drivers in Australia, and meetings like these can open doors to those who would like to race in Europe/US etc make new contacts and market yourself professionally to gain sponsorship.
It looks like I will be able to offer 2 options on transport, at a very low rate. Rail and a direct truck service to the track. The truck service would involve me arranging a container, to be sent to a central address, agreed upon by that state entrants, delivered in SA, Vic, NSW and QLD. You would be responsible for packing/crating your items safely into that container then it will be loaded onto a truck and delivered directly to the circuit.
Dunlop KartSport Australia has shown interest in supporting this event, and will have there Dunlop KartSport transporter at the event to ensure there Dunlop customers have first class support. In saying this, rather than packing your tyres, you could contact your approved Dunlop state agent and pre order your tyres prior to the event and collect them at the circuit as a option to save packing room etc
Happy to hear any suggestions, a lot of blokes on here have a lot of experience, please speak up so I can take note of your requests.
Cheers!

Would that be Dave Willmet ? ;D
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
I can supply all the garage overhead names , we could use the layout I use to do for ProCar, when it gets closer I'll be in a better position to commit to a lot more, like Podium Backdrops and promo coflutes to be displayed every where.
Any way Well done mate , hope it goes ahead.
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
This event will be going ahead, I'll make sure of that...
I just don't want to rush it through, it needs the time and money to plan it well so we have virtually everything covered.
I am making good progress at the moment and as I said earlier, I hope to have a event plan outlined in the coming weeks.
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
Here's how we did it for Dubai with Eddie Kooiker
Dropped the boxed kart at a central location and then by container to the track.

Looks like we will have a huge grid of karts, I'll be pushing on with this and keep everyone posted every step of the way.
This event is about the competitor and putting on a great show to promote the sport at a professional level.

More interest shown from US and Europe competitors.

Crocadiles don't forget them ;D ;D
I can't tell you much apart from how a few other motorcycle meetings with o/s competitors run. They use the same shipping company every year that has clear timelines. On the other end is a central poerson for everyone to take their equipment to which saves individuals sorting out details. You could look at reciporical arrangements with NZ competitors, hosts pay entry and freight costs. Then the deal is extended to competitors here.
great idea I'm sure it will be a winner.
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
Good news is I have tentatively secured a major sponsor to back my event based on a basic outline on what I have planned.
Will keep you all updated as I progress on this.
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
I used to use Bains transport a lot for my previous job, I know mick Bain well so might be able to help. It was mainly from Brisbane to Darwin but could ask for other states. They have a yard in Darwin as well. I think he might even be able to help with unloading/fork lift etc.
Just let me know and I could find out some prices for containers from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelade etc etc
;D
Re: 2015 World Superkart Challenge ?
To do this event justice, you would need to promote it atleast 1-1.5 years in advance so the international competitors have time to sort out there dates/travel/freight equipment etc etc
I am still currently discussing options with NT Motorsport and a third party with possibly putting a event together in conjunction with another category. We are finalising prices for transport and looking at the finer details etc to see if this could be a worthwhile option.
