I would love to know what we all think about the upcoming engine regulation change in F1.
Who is looking forward to it?
Who is dreading it?
Who is just simply looking forward to more great racing?
I remember being fortunate enough to hear the sound of the last generation of V6 turbos as a youngster in Adelaide.
Saying that, I have was lucky enough to experience the old 3.0 and 3.5 V8's, V10's and V12's.
I especially remember the final race in Adelaide in 1995, and hearing the insane volcanic shreek of the 3.0 V12 Ferrari, which incidentally was the last ever outing of a V12 F1 car in anger.
What was most interesting, was the comparison between the V8's, V10's, and V12 all in the same race!!
Already got my seats booked for Melbourne 2014 in anticipation. I know it will sound different, but if the old V6 T's didn't sound that bad- just different.
I'd love to hear other peoples past experience of the old engines- and the emotions they stir up, and opinions on the new regulation changes.

I booked tickets for Melb F1 about a month ago haha, i didnt mind the sound of all the blown diffuser cars. Went the year after that and skipped this year. Looking forward to hearing the new combos and hopefully seeing Alonso back in a faster car.
I think I recall from the latest episode of The Racers Edge on Peter Windsors youtube channel (highly recommended), that the ERS system will have a level of automated deployment in which the ECU will help harvest and deploy the ERS at certain throttle position. Please don't quote me on this, I'm pretty they (Peter and Antony) said something to this effect in the latest episode.
Still... as a purist, I tend to agree with you Dom
I remember at the Melbourne GP in 2012, the 1985 Ferrari 156 that Michele Alboreto drove that season was demonstrated. Although it wasn't being put through it paces like old times, when they opened the 'ol girl up down the straight she still sounded like a thoroughbred. But still no candle to the fire breathers we talk about.
Agree Adam, Alonso is a much better driver than he is portrayed to be at the moment. Adam said:
