Hey guys I will be in Vegas for a week coming up to watch the nascar race, just wondering for anyone else that's been there, what other cool motorsport/automotive activities you guys might have done while over there...... Just looking for some ideas before we head off. Cheers

Sod the motorsport - do the strip, watch the dancing waters at the Bellagio, gawp at the silly gamblers and take in a show. You could also take a sightseeing flight to the Grand Canyon. Alternatively, hire a car and drive there, but book a hotel for the night because it's a four-hour drive each way past the Hoover Dam and along some of the famous Route 66 - well worth it.
I recently blew $500ish at Exotics Racing to take a Ferrari F430 Scud for 7 laps. The instructor was good enough to recognise my track experience and let me at it with no interference.
They also have the 458 Italia, Gallardo Superleggera, Aventador, Porsche GT3, Nissan GTR, Aston Martin's, Audi R8 and should have a Huracan by now as well.
I will be going back next visit
That sounds cool..... Did you need to get an international drivers licence for that?? Might be something I will look at doing

Nope, just my normal NT drivers licence. And yes it was awesome. I was a bit tall for the Lambos, but really wanted the Scud anyway - it's so very raw and the brakes and turn in grip were fantastic for a car.
Its located right outside the Las Vegas speedway, you drive past it on the way in. I booked the drive at a display at the Fashion Show Mall and got free bonus laps. There is another company doing similar on the infield of the speedway - Dream Cars or similar, I have no experience with them to share.
Tip - it is a fair distance from the strip on the I15. If you don't already have a hire car, then it is cheaper to hire a relatively cheap car for the day than it is to catch a cab there and back.
We also did the drive out to the Grand Canyon for the weekend, came back via Seligman on Rt66.
Accommodation prices in Vegas jump dramatically for Friday and Saturday nights, whereas accommodation at the Grand Canyon (Tusayan, actually) was consistant.
The one thing I considered doing but didn't get there was one of the firing ranges. If that's your sort of thing there are some insane packages available to shoot all sorts of firearms at a number of places.
I ended up shopping with the Mrs at the outlet malls instead.
Cheers for that man...... Will definitely have to have a look, at this stage in sure I have a drive at the Richard petty driving experience after the nascar race, which I'm hoping will be pretty cool, still undecided whether to hire a car, not too interested in doing the canyon and hoover dam because we did that last visit 7 years ago and I'm sure they haven't changed lol

Hire a Vette or Camaro SS convertible for a day or two from Hertz. You can book them online and they have outlets at a large number of hotels along the strip. If you book from the Australian website it should include all the required insurances. I think you need at least CDW and LDW to have an appropriate level of cover.
Most the motorsport activities are actually located in the same industrial park as the speedway track so you'll have no problem finding anything. The activities maybe in high demand if there is racing on at the same time so it might pay to try and do some pre-bookings?
Zion national park is an easy drive from Vegas and definitely worth looking at as is the grand canyon although a bit further to go. The strip at night is awesome but if gambling is not your thing then go watch a show. There's always something happening as the city never sleeps
