125ccNGB Rotax Max nose cone rule, sprint kart plastic side pods as per the proposed Stock Honda rules. No fiberglass side pods.
The Stock Honda concept, target market and tech regs will be submitted to NSA very soon (in Nov 2012). The submission will be headed by an individual into the NSA (not me) on behalf of the entire current and previous "Stock Honda owner/drivers" who are all in acceptance and copied as a group on all aspects to the future of having their class recognised by CAMS.
Right now the work is been finalised on the proposal to ensure minimal delays so no holes, conflicts or errors in the tech regs to be nit picked by NSA or AMRC. The concept itself has nearly 3 years of Australian on track data with over 10 karts grid ready for a 2013 Championship. ;)
Just in case someone is looking for a chassis, Greg from Tonykart Australia has sent me the following message. Hello Ashley, The Chassis is a Krypton KRX KZ chassis ( 32mm ) $3200.00 inc GST plus freight
Let me know Kind regards Greg

Why don't you guys pickup the rule book, a lot a effin work went into the wordings.
The bars are not a Stock Honda controlled item, only the chassis.
Chassis 1.1 The chassis shall be CIK homologated and which bears the manufacturer’s CIK tag intact on the chassis. If the chassis is not currently CIK homologated, documented proof must be presented that the chassis was previously CIK homologated. The main frame rails and cross members shall not be altered. 1.2 Repairs to the chassis are allowed provided the chassis remains within its approved CIK dimensions. In the case of a questionable chassis the manufacturer’s signed and approved CIK homologation document will be the definitive authority.
Dalton and Jase Mate, have a close look at your side pod bars, I bet any money they have CIK Homologation number etched on top of the chrome finish or a stamped tag welded to the bars. Have a close look my friends they are genuine BRM bars from Europe that are fitted to your chassis. ;)
Gary, Just make sure you comply to the chassis and bodywork rules if you want to race us for sheep stations at the important meetings.
Bodywork 4.1 CIK sprint kart-style plastic nose cone, nassau panel and side pods shall remain unaltered other than necessary for installation of radiator and mounting the side pods. 4.2 CIK plastic nose and nassau panel may be replaced for fibreglass superkart-styled bodywork. Fibreglass bodywork, excluding mirrors, forward of the vertical plane drawn through the centre line of the front wheels in their straight ahead position must fall within the area of the template described in Figure A
I think you will find Gary's chassis is a BRM and came via SZR for final assembly. Had a few owners already. The side bars on my OTK karts have the CIK identification laser engraved on them but the generic copies don't as a rule
Looks like the weather is going to be good for you this weekend - hope you get the full circuit :) Sam, are you Colin Bond or Peter Brock this weekend in that Generation 1 GTS ???
BTW - the word Monaro is Aboriginal for "high plateau" no sure about the GTS suffix though - maybe someone else knows ..... ::)
Dalton has gone a little quiet but I think he pretends to be Mark Winterbottom. Either his out in the garage updating a new look for his Stock Honda for this weekend now or his still trying to find his feeler gauge and timing light to try and give his GT Ford a tune up against the Monaro.
BTW, I have the new 'Rev2 Hegar4 Stock Honda Stater Motor Kit' fitted for this weekend. They had troubles with the first revision but assure me that rev2 is now bullet proof. It is now a completely different design to Rev1 and much better in my opinion. I will be evaluating it his weekend and if it all comes up good will be submitting the wording to NSA to have it as an option for those who wish to have TAG for their Stock Honda.
I will be doing a group buy of 'Hegar4 Starter Motor Kits' if all is well on Sunday night.
Hi Sam and Dalton, Looks like you guys had a great race meeting and very fast times for a Stock Honda – congratulations guys very consistent times :) How about a race report on the last race as it looks like you guys took it down to the wire ???
Who of the Stock Honda drivers will be at PI next month?
I now hold the new Eastern Creek Stock Honda lap record with a 1:41.39 and Dalton not far behind with a 1:41.44. It was cigarette paper clearance racing the whole meeting and as such has renewed my love affair for Stock Honda. The ease in starting my motor by testing the Starter Motor concept on the weekend for me was also a highlight. One of the best race weekends of my life, it really was but it would not have been like that if it was not for the Squirrel who gave me the competition for every second of every race (except the last lap of the last race).
I am entering my Stock Honda today for Phillip Island next month, however my class may change to 250 Inter pending the arrival and dyno testing for some new goodies on my VM250 engine.
Yes, I can see that you both did consistent fast laps throughout all races - it must have been interesting for the spectators to watch. I was also surprised at the lap times being so close to the Open 125 class lap times :o There can be no doubt that this class formula is a winner both for new and old members alike.
Congratulations again and please put a video up on the Tube - it is the best way to promote this class :)
Allan I didn't have a video on my kart but Dalton had every race.
BTW, I was surprised myself when on Sunday morning all Stock Honda competitors had a special surprise bought upon them. All ECU's were marked, placed in a helmet bag and every competitor drew out another competitors ECU for the day's competition. Great work from others I say, just upset me that this was done because some grub outside our class with zero knowledge on Stock Honda has been going round saying that some ECU's have been reprogrammed for performance (which physically can't be done anyway). Well I know you will be soon reading this you grub, now go eat horse sh*t because 2 lap records were broken by 2 different people using other competitors random ECU's. Also all Stock Honda competitors did do their personal best lap times on Sunday. Yepp, it was a great day's racing. ;)
Hi Sam, While I agree in principal with the concept of swapping ECU’s, I am not keen on it. One bad earth wiring on someone kart can damage an ECU if you are unlucky - and sometimes it does not fail completely but runs below par or burns pistons. As you say, it is very hard to fiddle with this type of ECU and I hope this is the end of the swapping of units.
I have seen broken earth's in USA and Australia and no broken ECU's, my guess is Honda have some inbuilt protection on their ECU's against this.
We have done ECU swap in the USA once before so it stops any negative perception some may have.
I don't care either way as I know they can't be reprogrammed, the motor I ran at Mallala had a 14 year old ECU taken from a 1999 bike, still works like a brand new one, maybe it's about time the community stand up and speak out to these turds who try to rubbish our class and don't see that it also damages the whole sport of Superkarting at the same time. ;)
I knew your trick all along, and you only gotta look how shifter karts are delivered from factory and I wasn't sure exactly how it would translate to the Gold Viper setup. I just couldn't bring myself to do it after spending good money and tried to deal without, plus I bet the kart is still likely to be better the way it was before but only when on brand spanking new sticky rubber........or when at Phillip Island. No wonder you preferred the class controlled with Dunlop SL6 I guess the upside is the rear tyres on my Gold Viper will last longer now ;) Don't worry, I got more up my sleeve next time little squirrel :D
Anyway, your recent performances made sure I just can't stay static with my thinking / setup....thanks for driving my thoughts to make that change.......took me till the final race before I thought enough is enough.
,in the final I had a fuel surge problem - ya get that but we have never run a kit through the fuel pump in nearly three years of racing, not bad I'd say
The very first ever Australian Stock Honda engine and fuel pump (April 2010) was used by me on the weekend, never had a kit go through that fuel pump, only opened it once in over 4 years to replace the mounting body due to broken mounting hole. Me thinks you have something else wrong than just a fuel pump kit.......keep looking squirrel, Mikuni fuel pump just doesn't stop working instantly at turn 4 or whatever it was........... ;)
So I think Allen you asked for a race report not a me me me report sooo.....? Well would you believe, me and a few others were at this meet too....lol.
Q1 - 9.00am cold and med grip..Dalton came out firing and got Sam by -0.2 then me -0.6 then Mitch -3.5 Dane -6.5 Stewy -8.5 The rest of the day was Sam and Dalts lowering their best and smashing the record which was great to watch but the real story came from the back. Stewy finally saw the light and lowered his best by 14 sec from a month ago and 4 secs on the day. Dane did a bit more and for the second outing ever in the class and at SMP, he got down to 1.44.70 which is my times usually (pesky kids shit me). Mitch had his first drive ever at SMP and was super impressive at 1.46.50 Q1 and got down to 1.43.12 in the last which is getting close to the old record....great drive. Aaron Cogger broke his 250 Nat kart and changed to his Stock Honda and was consistent all day (natsoft had him as John Pellicano)..... I also broke my personal best getting down to 1.43.02..I couldn't be happier. New tyres are not overrated and I might just start buying them. FYI: I did not start R2 as I forgot to put my fuel cap on....dickhead. Can't wait for the next one and will have a starter motor for sure. Hope I didn't miss anyone... Pil
Thanks Pil and good to see credit given to the new drivers - always helps when they see their names mentioned :) 1:43's are really good times for the Stock Honda - great bangs for bucks ;D What speed are you getting down the straight - 175klm ???
Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun :) How many of the NSW/QLD Stock Honda guys are going to PI in August? I know Ben from SA is going and I am still undecided.
Highest I saw was 188kph, that was slipstream with Paul Campbell and Dalton in tow, all 3 of us. I need to download the data to make sure the 188kph actual speed and not a spike/bump in the track. I use 890mm diameter in the wheel data for MG Yellow, I don't have GPS.
Hi Sam, That is boarding on abuse to a little Stock Honda - it must have been flexing the conrod's biceps at that velocity :D - and yet it took it lap after lap without complaining :'(
But the worst part is you are probably going to abuse it again at Philip Island without even a thought for it's feelings. :D
Stock Honda guys are going to PI in August?
Steve Castles and I have both entered in Stock Honda for August Phillip Island.
Hi Dalton, Thanks for the video – it was good to see how close you guys were during the whole race – lap after lap. :)
It appears that Sam might have pushed the new KERS button coming off the hairpin as he pulled away from you each time you had a run on him – I be getting the officials to check his data logger for current drain on the Battery at that point of the track. :D
Also, I can see that Sam had his DRS shoulder lapels open for most of the laps; this might constitute illegal use of moveable aerodynamic aids. :o
Maybe you can donate this Video to the NSW club for their web page on the Stock Honda class – it would be good to see the speed overlayed as this would impress new converts to take up the class. :o
I was taking the wider line out of T9 since my rear tyres were shagged out into the safety zone, hence was going faster on exit. I'm sure Dalton was letting me go as well since the leader onto the straight very rarely wins, he was just keeping quiet behind me ready to pounce when it really mattered?
I thought it was strange that Lee Vella was slower than usual, seemed to be lacking significant HP? who knows?
Hi Sam and Dalton, Yes, I did noticed your motor sounded like it didn't want to rev, especially down the straight where you should have been able to slip stream past Sam .. but with those DRS lapels fully opened, maybe they were too big a speed advantage ;D ;)
I thought it was interesting that with the different lines through the corners, there was not more positional changes but maybe Dalton has confirmed why he could not to take advantage of that. In fairness, I could see Sam's kart was loose in the rear and his comment about the tyres confirms that. Dalton you must not have had that problem because you were able to keep a tighter line where you wanted too.
After changing to MG yellows for my last race meeting, I noted that soft tyres make a big difference on the Stock Honda and I will not be going back to SL6's now. I think it is better to have the grip than save the dollars as it makes for a better ride and that means more fun. :D
Yes I'm doing a transponder reposition as we speak. It was photo finish but my transponder was on my front side pod rail, Dalton's in line with front axle (furtherest forward legal). I never thought when I built the kart that less than 20cms would decide a race win but I'm glad I have learnt my lesson now as it goes to show how close racing is after 15mins.
Allan, the old MG Yellow is now called a MG Prime F/Z (still looks the same as the old MG Yellow) as per the CIK spec for this year. The KZ2 sprint guys don't like the new ones much as they feel softer than before. Maybe not in storage long enough or not enough cure time or something. Don't last as long either. If you can get the older ones, all good but there is no new stock of the old MG Yellow at DPE they tell me.
Sam, at a guess I think the Starter Motor proposal will go well. I wonder how many others try to adapt it to their non Stock Honda engines. Won't take that long I wouldn't think.
